Carol - I agree about the pizza and it was the best. I did not go to the top of Aetna or Vesuvius, but I did take this picture at the top of ? You hike up late day and watch the "fireworks" after dark. I only show these recent college graduates to show their attire as a clue - especially the helmets.
Thanks Fred. Stromboli can be really impressive at times. We were on holiday in the south of Sardinia and one evening could hear these tremendous explosions. When asking the hotel staff where they were coming from they said Stromboli. I couldn't believe it as it is nearly 300 miles but they had no reason to lie so I suppose it must have been true.
Now to find a photo...
You have to be really precise on the location of this one. Not quite as precise as 'the bow of Jeannius' but not just the general area.
I live within a few miles of this location, on the Jersey side, but I'm just not familiar with the marina. Is that the 79th Street Boat Basin? The tall cylindrical building in the background is called Stonehenge.
A really great place right there in Manhattan where 6 of of us stayed for around $100/night. It's gone up a but since we stayed but still only $3.50/foot/night. Must be the cheapest way to stay in Manhattan... https://www.nycgovparks.org/facilities/marinas/10
