I am looking to book a sail charter trip to Grenada sailing the Grenandines in July (yes, this July 2020). If I booked this, it would be done in a way that I could recoup all funds if cancelled. However, I don't really want to go through the work/effort to do this unless there's a reasonably high likelihood that the trip can actually happen. I'd want the trip to be pretty close to normal operations for this time of year (esp. provisioning, etc). So, I'm trying to get some intel/educated perspective on the likelihood of normal operations by mid July. Any good sources of information? Thanks in advance!

Countries that rely on tourism are starting to open up. Spain has just announced foreign tourists are welcome from 1st July. I got a ferry booked UK-Bilbao as soon as there was availability, 15th July. However, July - August is Spain's high season and they really needed to get it done. In the Grenadines, July would normally be low season so they may not be in such a rush. I'd wait until there is some definite news from SVG before booking.

Jeannius - roger that and thanks for the heads up - i'll definitely be monitoring SVG status as somewhat open and normal operations there would be a requirement for us to make the trip.

There are numerous FB groups that are very up to date on the SVG/Grenadines situation including:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/132087906871838 (Eastern Caribbean Cruisers)
https://www.facebook.com/groups/122198531593669/ (Bequia)
https://www.facebook.com/groups/418001715012735/ (SVG)

The prospects for any opening up in SVG/Grenadines in July is slim at best because of restrictions put on international airline travel.

I received an e-mail yesterday from Barefoot YC in St. Vincent stating they would be reopening July 18. Also mentioned AA would resume flights in July.

Fred - thanks but we recently cancelled our summer trip as we were nearing the start date and countries weren't open yet. Maybe another time!
