Me, I am a big Gin fan...
I do not have much use for Vodka.
Vodka has no taste unless you add something to it.
A bottle of Gin in the Freezer for 2 weeks is a good martini.

I have found when in St John and the noseeums are bad, rubbing Gin on your legs works much better than most commercial products.
And definitely better than vodka!
Some of the local concoctions with herbs and oils work well also. But Gin is the best for me.

Sorry for the off ramp. wink

Tom, kinda knew decisions would be made without personal control. We cancelled April in Jamaica today. My daughter sees no improvement in Italy. They are confined to there home and can be fined if stopped outside their neighborhood. Everything closed except grocery store and pharmacy. Luckily son in law can travel to base and get supplies there.

What 11 days has brought since I wrote the original post saying adding 1200 cases. 41,000+ infections and 3400+ dead.

And where the US economy has gone. I am worried for all USA and everywhere, but particularly New York who may have been slow to react to the data and curves. Have to give kudos thus far to Ohio who was a a canary in the coal mine by closing schools, restaurants, bars, etc.etc.

But any place can go in any direction. One only has to look at Korea’s patient #31Italy and Spain.

Some young people are going to get a rude awakening in no more than 3-4 weeks if we can’t put the lid on this.

Are we living in a parallel universe, this is all so bizarre

21 March - just 1 day later. Italy 53,500 confirmed cases; 4,825 dead. Source Johns Hopkins

Staggering

All outdoor exercise banned country wide. Only groceries and pharmacies open. Temperature check to enter.

Oh my!

15 days later, it is 19 April. Not trying to be a gloomier, but to document the future of the thread I started

Italy has 175,925 cases and 23,227 dead
Spain has 195,944 cases and 20,453 dead
USA has 735,366 cases and 39,095 dead

There are many other countries but this thread started as an Italy thread, added Spain and USA that was almost nothing on day one Of this thread.

We can’t really conclude anything for sure but the doubling of cases in USA has has taken 2 weeks rather than days which is a positive sign but testing of only sick people might be Hiding all the asymptomatics.

9 May, 10 days later

Italy 217,185 infected/ 30,201 dead
Spain 222,857 infected/ 26,299 dead
USA 1,286,833 infected/ 77,280 dead
UK. 212,629 infected/ 31,316 dead
Russia. 198,676 infected/. 1,827 dead

UK started much later and has passed Italy and Spain in deaths with fewer confirmed infections. UK still accepting people at Heathrow and thinking about a quarantine. I would contend they have been slow to see things or maybe they see them differently.

Russia was late to get it but has high number infections with low deaths early on thus far. Possibly quicker to test relatively speaking or early in the game.

Yes. And unfortunately for those 70 and up, they need to stay isolated for some time. 50 & 60 and up need to be careful. Get that house completely organized, straightened, eat home cooked meals, FaceTime the grandkids, and watch a lot of reruns Until 2021.

The rest of 40 and under society needs to Quickly save the economy from Total ruin.
