Pat,
Why are you saying:

"I really want to be able to go into the water and this is the ONE beach on the island I've always been warned away from as far as a swimming beach goes".

Seems like a cruise ships are bringing lots of people to Kim Sha Beach.

Not Pat, but it's been documented that raw sewage is discharged into that water.

cmh,

Georgia is correct - raw sewage and ground run off is a major issue in this area and has been for years.

We started coming to SXM in 1973 and have continued to do so annually through the present. Kimsha is the ONLY beach we’ve ever been cautioned about with reference to not swimming there because of these specific problems, and while I know there are many who do, based on the warnings we’ve received from locals as early as 1983, it’s the one island beach where I absolutely will NOT swim.

Respectfully,

pat

When my husband and I first started coming to SXM back in 2011, we enjoyed the island music and the margaritaville vibe, but then we started traveling to SouthFlorida, i.e. South Beach, Haulover Beach (nude beach), and have started to prefer a more upscale vibe for restaurants, as far as ambiance - and techno sort of "goes with the territory." Granted, this isn't Miami, but it's nice that there is something for everyone on SXM.

I'm the kind of guy who likes all kinds of music, I guess. Will definitely try Roxxy, and also looking forward to JAX Steakhouse. (JAX looks way more upscale than the usual fare in Maho village.)
