Day 1 (July 26, 2019)
I Did: I was up by 2:00 and at Newark Liberty by 3:00. Our flight left at 6:15. We had a two hour flight before a layover in Charlotte. We then had a four hour flight down to St. Martin. I Ate: Plane food...iiiiiccckkkk! Goodbye appetite, hello stomach ache for the rest of the day. I Bought: Nothing. It was a travel day. I Wore: I wore jeans and a tee shirt on the way down. As my stomach was a mess, I was in my pajamas by 7. I Thought: It really hit me that by the time I leave the island, things will never be the same again. Just 5 more days until the 31st!

Not sure if I have missed something along the way, but why will things never be the same again and what is the significance of July 31st? 18th birthday maybe?

I think that is it. Little does she know what's in store for the future. Every year is an adventure.

Day 2 (July 27, 2019)
I Did: We went back to Parrot Ville and fed the birds again. It was great to be back there; back home there’s a place called Bird Paradise where you can have the birds step up on you, but it just isn’t the same! Afterwards, we went to Bikini Beach. There was a lot of seaweed there, but I was able to find a clear spot and wade knew-deep for a bit. I Ate: We were at Bikini Beach Restaurant, where my boyfriend dared me to have an octopus stew, and I did! It didn’t taste bad, but it was really chewy. I Bought: Another magnet from Parrot Ville. I’m not planning on buying a lot here. I Wore: I wore a black crop top and my green capris pants for Parrotville and the restaurant...I call it my Kim Possible outfit if anyone remembers that show (I used to watch it when I was 5) For the beach, the sun wasn’t too bad so I was able to go full bikini. I Thought: 4 more days until the 31st!

Day 3 (July 28, 2019)
I Did: I went to Mullet Bay Golf Course. I forgot to tell you all this girl golfs! The golf course was okay, but there were lots of weeds and crab grass there, and the grass was dead in other spots. It was still worth the visit, though, especially since this girl golfs. Afterward, we went to the southern (clothing optional) part of Orient Beach, where I waded knee-deep in the ocean for a bit before relaxing on the beach. I Ate: I had a cheeseburger at Perch Lite. Thus, I only needed a small dinner at Subway. I Bought: A set of golf balls with St. Martin on them. Did I mention this girl golfs? I Wore: I wore capris jeans and a golf shirt (this girl golfs, remember?). At Orient, I actually almost ran into the ocean before my mom stopped me and reminded me that I needed to remove the pants! I kept the shirt on, and boy did it protect me from the sun. I Thought: That awkward moment at Perch Lite when you’re almost full and reach down to unbutton your pants....and you realize you’re not wearing any. OMG, only 3 days until the 31st. I’ve got butterflies in my stomach like crazy!

Good advice from Mom. If you decide go snorkeling, keep in mind that a-t shirt may not be a fashion statement, but it may save your back. If you want to be totally grossed out, Google "English girl severe sunburn". Check with Loterie Farm on the French Side to see if they ever opened their 9-hole Par 3 course. I haven't seen it mentioned since the article linked below was published in February. If it is open, it may be better maintained than Mullet. https://www.thedailyherald.sx/islan...ges-april-opening-for-9-hole-golf-course

You can still get burnt on a cloudy day and reflection from the sand under the shade.

You can still get burnt on a cloudy day and reflection from the sand under the shade. True to that. But in that kind of situation, sunscreen actually works for me! Okay, here we go. Sorry, but this one won’t be that exciting. Day 4 (July 29, 2019) I Did: Practically nothing. It rained. And it rained. And it rained. Okay, I did do stuff in the room, but I stayed in during most of the day.....because it rained. I spent the majority of the day sitting with my parents and boyfriend, mainly playing board games and going over a few things about the 31st. Oh yeah, and we all sang karaoke off the iPad. We’re a weird family, I know. Later, at around 5, when the rain finally got around to subsiding, we went to the southern end of Orient and played some volleyball for a bit. We then returned to the hotel for more games, and, yes, karaoke. Please don’t rain tomorrow! I Ate: I had ribs delivered from the hotel restaurant. They were good, but different from the ones back home. I Bought: Nothing. Because it rained. I Wore: During the early time we were in the hotel room, I was in a tee shirt and panties. Later, when we played volleyball on Orient Beach and after we returned to the hotel, I just wore my sports bra. I Thought: The 31st is almost here!

I'm not sure if everyone out there agrees with me, but I think Allison should organize the "St. Maarten 21 & Under" club to ensure that future generations keep coming to our island from all over North America. In fact, she should be president of the club. When I was 18 (a long, long time ago) I didn't even know where St. Maarten was.
As for golf, are you telling anyone what you shot? Course was really in rough shape back in March. Even the greens had turned brown. Ton of roll off the tee I imagine. Maybe some late summer rains can bring the course back a bit.
Thanks for your nice reports and keep them coming!

sammy..that golf course is always like a cow pasture. they take lousy care of it....the weeds usually the most green....and that is the way it has been since 1995. It is so hard to believe that back in the day, they used to travel and have tournaments on that course...it was BEAUTIFUL...lush....and a destination course. Then after Luis......it was all over.

The "no pants / panties" look is always a crowd favourite everywhere in the western world.

"I was in a tee shirt and panties. " To much information Compared to the fact that some facilities are clothing optional, that would be a yawn. Too much information would be posting my bathroom habits...which I certainly will not.

The "no pants / panties" look is always a crowd favourite everywhere in the western world. I’m not trying to please any crowd. Half the population has no idea how much of a burden having boobs is. A physical activity like volleyball without a sports bra can result in painful consequences! I'm not sure if everyone out there agrees with me, but I think Allison should organize the "St. Maarten 21 & Under" club to ensure that future generations keep coming to our island from all over North America. That’s a good idea. There weren’t too many people in my age group, but there were a few. It’s a shame most people my age aren’t aware how wonderful a place this is!

Allison, keep those post coming. You are young and looking forward to your birthday and hope you have the best time. Showed this to my wife and told her the visions I had were certainly not painful, it perked this old fart up, wife’s reply was “in your dreams” lol.

Allison, Happy Birthday! I'm sure that you're not thrilled by the overnight rains. Meteo France, the French national weather service, expects them to be gone by mid-day.

I guess she is still celebrating! Her profile says she is now a wife as of July 31 2019. Could that possibly be true?😲

So, the question is ... is she on St. Martin with her boyfriend or her husband? Or both. There was once a single time where my wife didn't want to go to St. Martin for a week's getaway. But, when our friend Denise joked that she'd take my wife's place she (my wife) quickly changed her tune!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone. So I guess you’ve all been curious, so... I guess she is still celebrating! Her profile says she is now a wife as of July 31 2019. Could that possibly be true?😲 Yes, it’s true...I GOT MARRIED!!!!!! So, the question is ... is she on St. Martin with her boyfriend or her husband? Or both. There was once a single time where my wife didn't want to go to St. Martin for a week's getaway. But, when our friend Denise joked that she'd take my wife's place she (my wife) quickly changed her tune! I WAS on the island with my boyfriend when he WAS my boyfriend, now I’m on the island with my husband because I MARRIED HIM!!! Yes, I know I got married at 18 (actually, since I was born at 11:43 p.m., I was technically still 17), and I know a lot of you might be scratching your heads, but if you knew the whole story, you might understand. Just wanted to end the suspense. The reports will resume soon... ❤️
