Will be on island next week for our 14th time 😊. I’ve read somewhere that the parking garage under the Sonesta is still closed. We’d like to dine at JAX and Moulin Fou, parking suggestions please. Hubby now has low vision issues, so walking a great distance would be difficult.

We parked at the casino last night. Tipped $5. So worth it!

That would be a good choice, but if he's having some vision issues then you might to opt for a taxi and get to-the-door service. Unless you're staying up in Grand Case or somewhere far away like that. Then I would drive.

there was plenty of parking down the road past the pharmacy, down by platinum room...but we had a lot of people in our group so we felt pretty safe. But I think the best/ safest thing to do is the casino parking. do not park down by sunset beach bar at night. some nights everything was closed down in that area and very dark...don't park down there!

Is there Valet Parking at the Casino? Is the lot under Sonesta still closed? Used lot under Maho Market many times in the past, is it relatively safe?
I know under Maho Market is a long walk for the OP and her husband, just curious about the information.

When we stayed at RILP in April we were told the underground parking there was ONLY for RILP and RILT guests. Much of the location was still taken up with furniture and materials but that may have changed by now. There were security guards there all day and evening for guests but it is a bit of a hike unless you’re very lucky and find a spot near the stairs and elevator.

Yes, there is valet parking at the casino. That's what I would do.

Sorry......that was meant as a general question. Can I use the casino valet parking if I am not going to the casino? Several folks in previous threads have implied as much and I'm just trying to find out if that is acceptable.

Although I could be wrong, I think the owner of the casino also owns almost all of the Maho property, so I wouldn't personally have a problem with it, as you're still patronizing one of his tenants. ...and in general, I don't feel too sorry for someone who owns a casino. I don't view it as the same as using wifi from a restaurant that you don't buy a drink from, although I guess the analogy can certainly be made.

The parking behind Maho Market and under La Terrasse is NOT open to the public. Only for guest of LT and Royal Islander.
There is parking along the road between the pharmacy and the medical building, or the valet from the casino. There is also the alley near Winnie's, behind Moulin Fou, etc but I would only do that if WELL lit and perhaps with other people. NEVER park near Driftwood and walk after dark / or Sunset.

The valet person may ask where you are going; just be honest. Short walk across the street to JAX. And to those who recommend parking down by the Platinum Club . . . it's a crapshoot. One night I tried that and there were NO empty spaces.

Thanks everyone for the reply. Glad to hear that we will be able to park at the casino, perhaps even a brief stop after dinner as well. We were never a fan of parking all the way down by the Platinum Room, often that area is not lit particularly well and walking is not on even ground which is now even a bigger problem for hubby.

Parking in Maho was tough when we were there mid-June. The road past the Pharmacy was lined on both sides for quite a distance so we used the valet at the casino a couple of nights to visit both La Rosa and Foo with no questions asked. Safe and convenient. The casino has a very good show in the evening, and the crowd for that was pretty substantial..parking opened up a bit after that was over.

BeachKitten -- is this new because we've always parked in the underground lot when we go into Maho near the grocery store. Where we were unable to park this past visit was in the underground lot at the other end of the Maho strip across from the Pharmacy. The guard said it wasn't for public parking. This was in November so it's not very recent.

Louise,
Beach Kitten is correct and she is just back from RILT. We stayed at RILP in April and the underground lot beneath the grocery store and RILT was strictly for Sonesta guests. The other parking structure closer to the pharmacy wasn’t open at all when we were there. Easy Maho parking is at a premium these days.

Never stopped in Maho pre Irma very much, but after the storm we went frequently and of course parking was a piece of cake. At this time there's really no public parking in Maho. Even the giant lot just down the road by the pharmacy has been filled with construction materiel just like the covered lots. In the last couple of months, we stopped going due to the parking situation there.
It's good to see there are still lots of people there even this time of year.
