Without ANY email notification, my November flights on AA were changed again. Totally unacceptable routing with an overnight (at my expense) at a hub city and not getting home until very late at night on the 2nd travel day. I called and was told by the agent the Boeing 737 MAX situation is what is causing the issue, although I did not think they flew this aircraft to SXM. The agent also said to check back in late August as schedules will be in a major state of disarray until then.
And, as I stated there was not email notification and the agent said their records indicated multiple emails had been sent. Same [censored] and bull line I was given on the first schedule change where there was no notification. I am now waiting on a call back from AA tech support to see if they can get to the bottom of the lack of notification.
At this time, the only other option is Delta at a $300+ upcharge per ticket.

On the phone with them about this now as they allege an email was sent 2 days ago. Same story I got on the first round of changes.

I do not live in the metro NYC area and do not have a choice of multiple airports, multiple airlines and non-stop. I have two choices, Delta and AA (both with a connection) and as i stated, I can cancel and change to Delta but it is $300+ more per ticket. That is on top of the $750+ per ticket I already paid.

Crap, so sorry to hear that. Any chance you could fly to Ft Lauderdale, spend the night and then fly Jet Blue for less money??

I might check into it. Still on the phone over the lack of getting any email notification.

I have never gotten any notification from Delta about our flight change in June. Fortunately for us, it was a good change, in that our layover in Atlanta on the way back is down from 4.5 hours to 3 hours. But no notification ever on it..

Checked on it and by the time I would get a hotel for at least the outbound travel (and the return would be tight without overnighting), I am at the same price or more as changing to Delta. Another option might be JetBlue out of Cleveland but if you overnight on each end and parking, I am back at the Delta price out of Dayton
Over an hour on the phone with AA tech support and then a supervisor and NOBODY can explain why I did not get an email as they insist they were sent. I made a minor change to my account and promptly received email notification of that so I know it is on their end. What a bunch of bull$hit

My flights last November to and from SXM were on the 737 Max. I was not concerned then, but I will be concerned in the future since it has been grounded now with 2 major disasters. Hope you get better flights arranged for the fall. If you are going in November, I may finally get to meet you.

I wonder if you not receiving those change notices was due to some email settings that was sent to spam by mistake. Nope, checked all of that. When I made a change to my settings (adding yet another email address) I was promptly notified and I also received emaill notification when the ticket was purchased. I have every possibly notification (email, text and phone) set up and got nothing. Just like with the first major schedule change 2 weeks after purchasing the ticket. I fly out of Dayton, they use a regional jet to CLT and then either a 737-800, 757-200 of an Airbus to SXM. I do not believe AA uses the 737 MAX for the SXM route but I am not 100% sure. The agent stated it was due to moving aircraft around to cover for where the 737 MAX was used. I would expect more major shceudle changes with any airline that uses the 737 MAX.

Scubaman, you are correct! Spot on! The MAX configuration is causing a tremendous amount of US turmoil within connecting flights, due to the fact they were taken out of service. When the MAX came on line, most of the larger carriers retired the same amount ( respectively to there existing fleet ), thus causing headaches and pain for travelers, which bings in the other situation! The big, back and fourth run around, and hours on the phone with no answer, and NO accountability!

We all are feeling the pains of air travel and there related problems. BUT safety should be paramount in all of our minds, regardless of the pains we are going through. Just think of ALL the lives lost to this one glitch. I have no problem with the safety aspect, it is the ineptness of which the US carriers are run. I have every possible notification set up and I get ZERO notification from AA on both of the mjaor schedule changes they have made. At one point during the 1 hour+ phone ordeal the agent implied that I changed the routing as they cound not find it in their system. Speaking decent english would have helped the situation also.

We HAD nonstop from PHL in mid November with American. We DID get email notification that we are now laying over in Miami. Our friends also got an email. Not happy. The only other nonstop for our dates is from JFK- (Delta and Jet Blue). AA gave us only 1 hour layover in Miami. Anybody who flies from PHL knows nothing leaves on time. So we had them change our PHL flight to an earlier flight. Not fun! Nothing we can do. I asked for waiving baggage fees and/or earlier boarding and was sharply told "NO!". AA sucks.
But now I think about the good times, down in the Caribbean sunshine...

I seem to be one of the few to not get email or any other notification. I have every option checked and did not get any notification with either of the two changes. Right now it appears they are routing everything through Miami, hopefully that will change.
Have you thought about cancelling and changing to another airline? Any change of 1 hour or more and you should be able to cancel without penalty.

I just want to clarify that I did NOT receive a specific email notification referencing the changes. But I’m one who routinely checks my reservation and the notification was there in red letters advising me of a change. I have every possible notification area checked in my personal profile but this was our only notification so far. In the past when I’ve questioned this, AA always said I would have been notified eventually but I was too quick for the advisory. Don’t know and haven’t gotten any email yet.
For those with AA flights in November, as far as I can tell they only have one flight leaving weekdays at 5:08 to MIA and this is basically too late to make connections further on down the line. In their infinite wisdom, they have me scheduled to depart on that weekday flight and change planes in MIA.to Philly where I will arrive after midnight and can then spend the night AT MY EXPENSE to arrive at SWF the next day at 10:00 pm. GREAT, will deal with all of this when I get home.
Respectfully,
pat

You got it! I would not know either without having checked, as I usually do 1-2 times per week since one can not depend on AA for notification.
Te thing that really imitates me is they allege they notified me, and they have not. They give me a date and it NEVER happens when they say it did. Not in spam, just NO notification at all. No text, no email and no phone call, and they are all activated.

That doesn't make much sense that you can't receive them if they actually sent them. Something is screwed up some where. That is what tried to tell them and I spent over an hour on the phone that other night doing so. I did get an email yesterday about new service to Europe but still no notification of the flight changes. I also sent an email two days ago but no response to that either.

Not according to the agents I talked to as they verified my email address and it is the same email address a confirmation of booking would come to and I did get those. Just because their automated system says it was sent does not mean it was and by no means does it mean it was received.

Email response after 5 days. If I get this, why would I not get flight notifications?
April 30, 2019
Hello Mr. McKnight:
Thank you for contacting American Airlines Customer Relations and for being a valued AAdvantage® member since 1987.
I'm sorry that our schedule changes are interfering with your trip. I can understand your disappointment about the lack of communication, as well. I do apologize. It does show in the record that emails were sent to your email address regarding the schedule changes. As for why you aren't getting them, I can't answer that. I have made internal notes to the right people regarding your notification concerns. I'm glad you took this occasion to tell us about your disappointment as it gives us the chance to apologize for the inconvenience, explain our policy, and look into why you aren't receiving the notifications.
It's really not unusual for our schedules to change several times within a single month and if we were to call customers each and every time there was a change, it would be frustrating and confusing for our customers. Most changes are minimal and rarely impact overall customer itineraries. Since this trip is not until November, I can't say that it won't change again as schedules are not guaranteed. If, over the coming months, things are still not where you like them to be please call Reservations as they will be the folks who can help in the best way possible. Again, I'm sorry for the resulting difficulty when we changed the flight schedule for your trip.
Mr. McKnight, despite the rough start to your planned trip, I am sure that memories will be made and we look forward to welcoming you aboard your flight.
Sincerely, Michael Hammer Customer Relations American Airlines
J.D.

I didn't ask for anything but as you can see, they offered nothing. I did mention it would cost me $300 more per passenger to change airlines to keep the same dates but that was it.
