Day 6 - A day away from the end of our first week. How sad,.....but 13 days to go,.....how wonderful!!!! Started the day with the traditional croissants from Bread N Butter, followed by a couple hours of sun/pool time. Lunch was the last two pizza slices from BZH. First pic below shows the condition and look of Dawn Beach. Great House has been leveled as well as Busby's. A lot of seaweed coming a shore, but the OBBR people are keeping the beach pretty clear. I spent the afternoon driving up to get gas at Cadisco. Then drove onto Price Leader shopping center where the SXM, "One Love, One Life, One Island", shop is located. Picked up a zipper hoodie. On the way back to OBBR, stopped at Lookout Point. It's still a unique place on Island where you can walk out in shallow water to the out islands(sand bars).
For dinner we visited l'Oasis. It's been years since we ate there. They've changed hands. Place has a nice feel, waitress was very accomodating. We split a large order of cod friters, caesar salad, and a chocolate mousse for dessert. Got back to Resort in time for a little money bingo. Betty won the last pot with another lady. Prize split was $6.50. Hardly enough for our next plane ticket.

Next SXM visit -November 2023. Also January 2024.

Can you explain a little bit more about where on the Island lookout point is and what it is like? Sounds like a neat spot. We stay on the Dutch side so I’m less familiar with the French side which it sounds like it’s near.

We also enjoyed l'Oasis. Veggie antipasti very good. Bolognese pizza was outstanding. We ate there twice. Also the waiter was very friendly. Thanks for your reports.

I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

If you take the road from Philipsburg towards Oyster Pond area. continue on that road, past Oyster Bay Beach Resort, past the intersection with BZH Creperie, l'Oasis restaurant, continue on that road till you see a makeshift parking area and overlook stand. That's it. You can also take the road from Philipsburg toward Orient Beach but in the middle of Orleans take a right turn at the Pastry Shop. Then just follow the road to the look put point.

Pictures are up on Facebook under Norm Oppliger and various SXM groups. Haven't got my photobucket account set up yet to post to TTOL.

It's part of the French Nature Reserve. Just beautiful.

Well worth a visit if one has never been there.

Do not leave anything of value in the vehicle if stopping there ore anywhere else.

Norm, thanks for the updates.

Norm--you don't have to have a photobucket account to post pictures here. You can upload them directly here now. There is a note in the FAQ about how to do it.

Sounds lovely, thank you. Agreed on not leaving anything in the car, never do anywhere in St. Martin historically honestly.
