We have 11 nights on island starting New Years Eve and we need a fresh list of resturants that are winners every time.

Only two slots are written stone for us: Bistrot Caraibes and Moulin Fu.

Help suggest the others please. 😊

How about including locations? I know some of these but Michael and I will be on island in a few short weeks.

All the above are excellent, I would add an old favorite Piazza Pascal in Grand Case and a new favorite Emillio's at Wilson Estate.

I would definitely add Spiga and Piazza Pascal in Grand Case.

If Ocean 82 is open in Grand Case, I would also add that to the list.

I would also add Pineapple Pete in Simpson Bay to the list.

candj--Ocean82 is definitely NOT open, as of now, unfortunately. I seriously doubt it will be open by the end of the year, as apparently nothing has been started there yet..

We haven't been to the variety that some of the TTOLer's have been, but i will second Al Dente in Cul De Sac.

My recent two best meals were at Mario's and Sol e Luna. I would highly recommend both.

As does Sol e Luna. Their 3 course lunch fixed price is 24 euro.

While it’s NOT a dinner destination, I personally enjoy Friars Bay Beach Cafe and find it’s slways one of my favorite dining spots on de islon. Words of caution, however, cash only - no credit cards and the dirt road that comes in directly in back of the FBBC is the worse I’ve ever seen it. I can’t imagine the road past Gutside could possibly be as bad. But any way you get there, the food is still great and the management is still the same.

Respectfully,

pat

Had another fabulous meal at Izi last night. Hubby had the 3 course dinner special (24.99) he chose the chicken parm and loved it, very large portion. I had the clams with linguini, amazing.

Yes, we went to Friars and had lunch at Friars Bay Beach Club. For those who are used to getting free chairs with meals, that policy has changed and they now charge for them. It was US $10.00 for two chairs with beach cushions, a table and an umbrella providing you were eating there.

The beach water entrance was kind of crumby with more rocks both before and in the water and left me wishing I had beach water shoes but I didn’t. And of course, for us really short legged creatures, the rocks - in all honesty more like big chunky stones - were right at the point where you need to step up or down into or out of the water. With a lot of ouchies and a little help from a friend it was very doable. I was amazed there wasn’t an empty table when we vacated ours. For a little out of the way place with lousy road access, they sure do pack them in. Even the big guy with the pony tail - owner or perhaps manager? since he’s been there forever and then some - was taking orders and serving today. I wish we had more days to return there, it was that good!

Respectfully,

pat

Mario's in Cupecoy
Spiga in Grand Case

The two above are favorites of our trip every year. In Maho, we like Moulin Foo, Bajatsu and Bamboo, but not sure which of those are open yet post Irma. We definitely miss Pizza Pasta (Maho), which is not coming back.

Bajatsu is not opened at the present time. There is a new one opened above LaTerrasse. Seems to be open sporadically.

Nobody has made mention of The Palms, usually a perennial favorite.
Are they open? Are Drunken Ribs on the menu? Definitely always one of my go to restaurants

Honestly, everyone's definition of 'the top' varies, but my feeling was the original poster was asking for more upscale recommendations than the Palms, but I could be wrong. Often am.

Hi Carol

I Respectfully disagree
OP is asking for 11 top restaurants for consistantly good food. I would love to eat every meal at Bistro Caribe but could not possibly do so for 11 days.
I need consistently good food from Le Taitu, Palms, Marks and others, which are affordable and still in on my list of top restaurants for their consistency and quality

Anyway, I am often wrong as well, so we can let the OP decide

Happy Thanksgiving

Our interest Spans the Gamut. We can go from Bistrot Caraibes one night to Talk of the Town the next. Satisfying meal, good atmosphere and service is the criterion. And if I have money left over Ill take it.

So this plan will probably go out the window at first contact and in no particular order other than the first 4 will be earlier visits.

1) New Years.........stay home at the boon or somewhere else....only idea received was toppers
2) bistro Caraibes
3) talk of the Town
4) mt Vernon Pizza shop.....actually very quaint plus have to recon mt Vernon damage recovery
5) sol e Luna
6) le moulin fu
7) pineapple pete
8) piazza pascal
9) Yvette’s
10) izi? Need more info
11) ?

12) le Taitu ??? When staying at mt Vernon, I never saw a soul go in/come out. Is it really there, open, and welcoming? Are they open for dinner?

Le Taitu is open, excellent and John is about as welcoming a host as you will ever meet. His only fault is rooting for the cardinals and not the Phillies.
It’s a special place, not many people know about it and it’s their loss. Over the years I bet I have taken 100 people there and many have become regulars and have never received a complaint
I am on the island now and am savoring the thought of my visit on Wednesday

As a last restaurant, you may want to consider l’astobe. ( may be spelled wrong). I understand they are open and it’s fine French food in orient
