A little heads up when you enter the water at your favorite beach. The bottom may have changed after Irma. I went into the water at El Zafiro yesterday and immediately stubbed my toe on a boulder that wasn’t there in the past. It was also a struggle to get out because of some new boulders. Just a heads up for us older folks.

The boulder was always there Tim, just the sand has moved. Waters have been quite rough the last week or so.

Yes. That’s probably it.

Take a look at Maho Beach. Sometimes massive boulders can be seen and other times they are covered with sand. Probably pretty much the same on many beaches. I know the beach area on Simpson Bay Beach has a lot of rock ledges that are usually not visible.

Personally, I would wear and suggest wearing some kind of water sandal if doing much other than walking along the edge of the water.

I don't think the boulders are as much a problem as the possibility of the corrugated roofs from the homes and hotels that might be in the water. It is those unknowns that concern me the most. I can always remember the weird objects that snorkelers would bring up from even Orient Beach. Gotta believe that there is quite a lot of trash that has not been removed. Our friend lost her washing machine which was outside on her porch and has never found it so ........

The beaches and water have been well cleaned. We swim here all the time and have had no issued with debris. And they are continually cleaning various more remote places too.
