Heard from Jim Kelley..he is alive and well as is our cat Farkle. The report on CRC is not good..but could be worse. He says the structure is standing as is most of the roof..The inside is a complete loss. He says the sea wall is gone and our ground floor is inaccessable down the stairs. When I first read it I thought he meant our concrete stairs were gone but now I'm thinking the area behind the wall has washed away..praying our foundations and septic are OK..more when I know it. Does anyone know if the ferries are running or when they will be..if they are left????

Sorry to hear of your damage.

I heard a ferry from Tortola tried to go to to St Thomas today, but it was turned away.

So sorry to hear that Mal. I'm sure you and Candace must feel terrible. Hope you can get everything back together again. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

Really sorry to hear Mal. Hopefully you can get down there on your planned schedule and see what needs to be done and start the process. The million dollar view will return quickly and I'm sure CRC will be better than ever. All the best!!

I am throwing this out there with the understanding that others need help more than we do. From what we can see and hear the sea wall in front of CRC and maybe down to the east collapsed. Now CRC and the others all look like they weathered the storm upright but I am worried about the danger from high tides and surf that will come. I am trying to get someone to build the wall back ASAP before there is any more damage..looking for any help I can get on this. I fear if we wade through all the insurance red tape it my be too late so I am ready to get this fixed with my own $$ and worry about that later..BTW..it looks like segments of the wall are on the beach and could possible be used again..

Mal, Good call to get it done. My concern across the territory is who is going to do all the work. With the work permit process and lack of housing who can you call?? If it was up to TTOL a truck load of red stripe and we could get volunteers to each check a bag of cement and build it for you,but not possible with current red tape.

Is it even feasible that anyone from government with a clipboard is driving around "catching " people rebuilding their houses? Or is it more the case of trying to bring in the materials??

Mal, there has to be someone in the area who need the money. Any kind if re-inforcement at this point would be helpful. Post on BVI Abroad FB page for help wanted and see who responds.

I have been in touch with Cheryl Sebastian with Purple Pineapple. She is now in St Croix and they are trying to raise funds for a generator. If anyone wants to inbox me for the information, I'll gladly pass it along.

Mal, hoping you get help on the sea wall asap. We have feet on the ground at Sandy Ground Estates on Jost and the story is very similar.

Waiting to hear that those with American Passports can enter the BVI to access the properties and assess the damages. Trying to get photos taken, but communication to/from Jost is pretty much non exsistant and the need for the photos is so so secondary to the humanitarian efforts that will/should/must come first!!!

Mal ~ glad to have you as a new friend too. I will keep trying Hulk and his daughter also. Knowing him I have a feeling once they lift curfew and can move about he will head over there. Keep me posted if you learn something before I reach him
