Hi. Since this flight was to Mexico, I moved it here. What a bunch of idiots.

Seriously? Hmmm, let’s see- if they were that DANGEROUS, why didn’t the pilot land the plane? They land the plane if you smoke in a lavatory! I call this a BS! A bunch of kids hired a plane, it was a private flight. So they did take masks off- they are all young and healthy, vaccinated(otherwise they couldn’t border the plane as per the local laws). Big deal! They are kids for crying out loud!
Yes they were drinking a bit too much, yes they brought their own alcohol on board. Yes they were having a good times. Sure, let’s throw them into a Mexican jail now! Get them stranded in a foreign country without option to return back to Canada…. Just think of it: our government takes back(fly them!) the bloody TERRORISTS! And not a bunch of dumb kids who are scared sh$tless now I guarantee you that! And will be sitting quieter than a mouse on the flight back home.
Just think of it again.
Cheers to everybody!

They won't be flying anytime soon.
"She said she tested positive for COVID-19 Wednesday and is now in isolation in Tulum, south of Cancun. She estimated that about 30 others on the flight have tested positive."
Not healthy now.

I can't say that I have any sympathy for them. Maybe being stuck in Mexico for awhile will give them a much-needed dose of reality.

They were described as mostly Quebec reality TV stars and "influencers". IME, referring to someone as an "influencer" is often just a polite way to describe someone who is self-impressed, overly-entitled, and generally too-cool-by-half. Maybe this incident might help them to understand that not only do the rules apply to them, too, but there are generally consequences for stupid actions. It's potentially a good life lesson in growing up, instead of acting like a**es!

Many of them are under investigation here at home for multiple violations of Transport Canada rules. While it is ultimately the pilot's call, he and the airline are also being heavily criticized for the very reason you raise. Why was the plane not returned back to Canada once the behaviour was noticed? There is also some question as to whether there was any attempt to control or caution the partiers on the part of the flight crew. This will be interesting to follow.

The proverbial sh*t is starting to hit the fan.

The partiers and organizer were recently chastised by both Prime Minister Trudeau and the Premier of Quebec, and have been generally castigated by public opinion here. The organizer reportedly has a less-than-stellar reputation in Quebec for some financial misdealing under a previous name.

Two of the so-called "influencers" seen on the various videos were identified by their employers and have now lost their jobs, according to this CTV News Montreal bureau report. Two other female passengers are young, aspiring pilots (not the ones flying the aircraft that day) who blog about their training. Transport Canada is now reviewing their certification status. That can't be good!

According to this and other reports, so far 27 of the approximately 130 to 150 passengers have managed to return to Canada via other airlines and each has been tested for Covid-19 and interviewed at the border by CBSA and Transport Canada officials. If they are found to have violated current health or Transport Canada regulations, they could face fines or bans.

I agree with you 100% that they should not be unpunished for what they did. Their social “status” does not give them any privileges but the “cancel culture” is way more dangerous than what they did! Why would you lose your job for bar fight? You can get arrested- sure! But lose the job?
I could care less about the “influencers” and frankly I can’t stand this type of behaviour but we need to draw the line between pure stupidity and violent criminal wrongdoing.
As for our Prime Minister yapping about them- he should be the last guy speaking after him and his crew partied in Europe in bars and restaurants without masks and any social distances! Do what I say and not what I do, eh?
