For those who have been to SXM recently or are there now, how are the mosquitos, sand fleas, etc now? I am bringing some spray regardless but just curious. I had read that there was some good rain of late so I am thinking the bloodsuckers will be out and about in droves. Some trips they are voracious little boogers and sometimes you don't even see one.

Just left the island stayed French side friars Bay & orient beach day time. Had lots of heavy rain & windy & lots of bugs biting. Little red welts & they don't usually like me. So for sure bring the bug spray.

Agree with Lesley--it depends on how much rain there has been. So if no big rains now, not nearly as many bugs.

It’s rained a lot so that’s probably why there are more bugs. We have been here for six weeks and the weather hasn’t been that good.

Being prepared is always a good idea. I went in mid-August and did not take any repellant and made a trip to the nearest pharmacy the morning after I arrived to purchase some. I thought the bugs were rather bad in August.
