Any info on the new FP Saba 50. We have one booked for next January with a crew of 12. Looks like it has alot of room for lounging around. not too worried about how well it sails we are there to chill and soak up the experience.

Is this CYOA's 2015 Cuvee? We have Cuvee booked for late June 2016. We went aboard her at the Annapolis Boat Show last fall.
Yer basic 4 cabin / 4 head layout.
Cuvee has a "bow tube" single bunk on the port side, and you could probably put two on the settee... but it's hard to see getting 12 people comfortably aboard.
Cuvee has a large diesel fuel capacity, a water maker, ice maker, generator and AC ... all the amenities. She can be run for a 10-day charter without taking on ice, fuel, or water, which maximizes fun time and minimizes time spent in the dingy with 80 pounds of ice in your lap.

The Charter version of the Saba 50 basically has 5 ½ cabins and should be fine for 12 if some are kids. There are a lot of owners versions being pushed into some BVI fleets on a somewhat dubious tax avoidance plan. They are great boats to charter if you can afford the cost with a smaller number of berths. G

George - Interesting that they are putting that many cabins in a Saba50! Would like to see a layout if you've got a link to one... Thx!

I hope this works. The port Aft cabin is entered only from outside and Planned as a crew cabin. It's a nice cabin and fully usable by a couple. http://www.viyachts.com/bareboats/dream-yacht-charter/saba50.php

The 6-cabin Saba we saw was a bit of a maze and was pretty cramped. Cuvee at CYOA is pretty darn luxurious in comparison.
We did 10 on a Helia in July, Glad In It out of CYOA. Four huge cabins plus two coffin berths. It was five adults and five kids. We had one 15 year old in the salon, a 12 year old in a coffin berth and my 18 year old daughter usually started sleeping at the helm station and then popped into a coffin berth if she got cold. The coffin berths were more popular than the salon with the kids. A/C in the coffin berths was key in July.

Cheers, RickG Thanks for the heads up RickG... we are looking into a 6-adult, 4-kid charter in 2017, and was thinking that "Glad In It" might be a decent option. The most luxurious cabin I've ever been in was on CYOA's Big Papa Lulu, the sister ship of Glad In It. The whole starboard hull is one huge master cabin.

I would disagree just a bit on how crammed the charter version is. The cabins are as good or better then most 40 to 45 foot cats with one exception which is more like a half cabin. Not much change if any to the main salon and cockpit. If I had a big group it would be at the top of my list. G

We were on a six cabin Saba 50 last summer. Generally we had nine people on board, but for a couple days we had 13. It seemed a fair bit smaller than the Lagoon 520 we were supposed to be on but still never seemed to crowded when we had all 13 on board. The middle two cabins might be a bit tight, but the other cabins seemed about normal for a 45'+ cat. They were perfectly adequate for sleeping or to get away for a few minutes. The saloon is pretty functional for a large group and there are plenty of places outside to spread out. People tended to congregate up at the steering station and on the front of the boat when underway. No one hung out much in the cockpit until we were at anchor or tied to a slip. I would have no problem chartering a Saba again for a large group. Also, although you said performance wasn't a concern, the boat sailed relatively well. We typically sailed at a casual 7-8 knots in winds of 12-17ish and got it up to double digits several times once the wind came up. Not bad for a loaded charter cat with a big crew.
Have fun!
Matt

I don't know about the Dream yacht program. There is a broker team out of thecEastern US putting boats into charter with several fleets. These are often owners versions. G
