Watched this unfold on Facebook the other day as locals posted pictures from start to finish. It was incredible how quickly it went from smoke to fully engulfed, and then burned to the water line. As it escalated, the fire/rescue crew towed it from the fueling dock out into more open water to let it burn. The name of the yacht was Positive Energy.
Went by today. My driver (arranged through Kevin) said they pulled it there while on fire to get to the resources to try and put it out. Tried to get a pic but we went by too fast. Amazing how little left there was of what I believe he said was a 64' yacht. He said the smoke was so he that he thought the whole yacht club (marina?) was on fire.
Is there anyone out there old enough to remember the Angelina Lauro disaster in St. Thomas in 1979? She was a cruise ship who burned at the dock. Quite spectacular.
I was berthed at the old Yacht Haven marina and had a bird's eye view.
