After a couple of years, we are heading back to St Martin this September and The Goddess and I could not be happier. Of course, it’s hard to think about anything else now that the booking has been made and we’re already planning on what we want to do, apart from snooze, drink, bob etc.

A few years back, we took the Tiko-Tiko trip to Tintamarre and had a great time on the beach there. I’ve started researching how to make our own way there since, while the Tiko-Tiko trip was great, we like the idea of just getting there by ourselves with a picnic and a couple of bottles of rosé. Now, to my point…

I’ve just read here about the changes introduced about nudity on the beach and an exemption that Tiko-Tiko secured. So, here’s my question (at last): is the exemption only applied to Tiko-Toko customers? If we made a trip over on a day she wasn’t sailing, would we be breaking the law by lying on the beach in the buff?

Glad I saw this post.... had a similar plan so interested in answer. Have done the Tiko Tiko trip a few times and it was great, the mud bath was great fun.

On the boat or in the water, nudity is tolerated. However, by Government of Saint Martin Arrete no001-06, nudity is not allowed on Tintamarre.

In addition to the nudity ban, the mud bath is also illegal.

So glad to hear you are returning to SXM and can't wait to read your trip reports. You always do a wonderful job!
While I can't answer your question about going nude when Tiko-Tiko isn't there I will tell you that we were on the Tiko-Tiko a few months ago and Philip told our group when we anchored that we could be nude on the boat, in the water and under the umbrellas. If we wanted to walk around we needed to cover-up. It was my understanding an agreement had been worked out.
There were about 4 boats there that day. We hiked to the other side to explore and we didn't see anyone while on the other side.
The mudbaths are definitely a thing of the past.

I do believe that his "agreement" is not official, and he believes that if 'kept in the closet' or under the umbrellas' that no one will kick up a fuss.
There is a CO beach in SXM it is also known as Club O.
To venture elsewhere, is breaking the law. Whether the law is enforced or not, is up to the gov't/

You cannot have a 'hand shake agreement' to supersede a law.

Feel free to go CO at your own risk, if not at Orient Bay... Club O.

Just IMHO

I had thought an agreement had been worked out with the government.
It wouldn't be good for Tiko-Tkio or Club O if the Gendarmerie showed up and ticketed those naked. Perhaps Philipe can chime in.

Don't know why, but for some reason I thought Philippe was now off the island and living elsewhere at least part of the time. If this is the case, he may NOT have the most current information. Or, I could be wrong.

Pat--my dear, I think you're thinking about the wrong Philippe! There is Philippe who runs Tiko Tiko and as far as I know, he is still on island. The Philippe who used to run Captain Oliver's is no longer on island, as far as I know. Living in Florida, I think.

Absolutely correct, Carol, and thank you for the clarification and the confirmation. I should have known the difference from the different spellings of Philip and Philippe throughout the thread. I guess my lack of info re the French side and clothing optional boat trips is seriously lacking, too.

Regarding the mud baths, on our last trip in April, the Rangers swan a shore and forced some mud bathers (not Tiko Tiko people to dump the mud they had collected and were mixing. The Ranger was not amused, but did not ticket anyone.
