Curious....if you have a rental car and are in fact handicapped, how would one go about getting a handicap placard?
Do they apply to both sides of the island? Based upon what standard?

You could bring one with you and use it there.

Royal Palm has 1 or 2 handicap parking slots and they also use the drive-thru at the entrance to the building. I see people bringing their placards from home. Always way more placards than parking spots.

Not sure of other businesses or places but I know it is often a concern for some.

Thanks for the photos. Anyone else notice that the handicapped parking spot on the left has something sticking up in the middle! Looks like wiring for a light???

Thanks for the photos! The thing I notice is that the buildings are located on high ground much farther from the sea. I hope that means the beach is less likely to disappear when I go there, during the late summer months.

The spot that has the wiring is not a parking spot, it's the walkway. It would make sense in SXM that something like a light post would be located in the middle of a walkway right lol.

If you look closely at the parked car at left under it is the handicap signage on ground. The space on the right is unoccupied. I think the middle is not a parking place and that may well be wiring for a light.

From the photo, think the other handicap space is where the white car is parked.

That's right, two parking spots with the walkway in the middle. That part is paved, so may be easier to push a wheelchair on to the beach through there. I'll try to take a picture of the parking lot next time I'm over to give you a idea of how big it is now. It's actually much better for parking now.

A light post or something similar will probably have to be put there, or else someone will try to park in the middle spot blocking the walkway.
Thanks for posting the pictures, things are really coming along.

Flamingo has various Handicapped parking spots located in different locals at the resort. Some for the building seven lot and some at each lot for the villa buildings.
Flamingo will issue a Handicap parking permit to put on your dash. Not sure if that permit would work at different businesses but could.

We didn't realize Flamingo had their own handicap permits - we always brought one from home. I'll ask when we check in. I know they have marked parking spots at the office & building 7-
are there marked spots for building 3 & 4? I don't remember seeing any but they have been working around those buildings. We're arriving in 1 week and can't wait!
