Pickleball is rapidly growing in popularity, so while it may not be available right now on St Martin, it certainly could be in the future!

We play at least 4 times a week here. It is said to be the fastest growing sport in the us. There are approx 2 million players world wide and is expected to grow to 8 million in the next 2 to 3 years. The draw is you can fit 2 pickleball courts in one tennis court and there is less running and wear and tear on the body. There is a place in Florida called the villages that has over 100 courts in their community. We were introduced to the game while on vacation in an over 55 Rv park in Tucson and were immediately hooked. I am sure it won't be long. before we hear of a tennis court being striped out so we can play on the island somewhere.

There is a group (including me) that has played pickleball at Rainbow Beach Club in Cupecoy. We added yellow tape to the tennis court there to mark the lines. Alas, I will be moving to Porto Cupecoy in September, and I don't think any of the other members of the group will be on island in October.

We didn't know of any other folks playing pickleball on the island, so we used to joke that we were playing for the St. Maarten national championship. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Our group plays pickleball many mornings now (January 2016) at Rainbow Beach Club (Cupecoy) on the tennis court. The next time we play (tomorrow?) I'll ask folks if anyone of them will be around in March, and get back to you. When in March are you planning to be in SXM?

Hi Ravi, thanks so much for your reply. We will be there March 3 to 10th with paddles and ready to go. That would be great if you can get someone in touch with us. Anyone of your people can email us at cheverie@rogers.com as this is the best way to reach karen and I.

Chris, that sounds good. I'm not sure of my schedule yet, but I know at least one other pickleball player who will be on island that week. I will send an introduction email to you and him. We currently play every morning at 8:30 am (except Sundays or if it has just rained).

I have a brother that has played for the last couple years. Very popular when he and his wife lived in California, even more so since they moved to Arizona.

Pickle Ball is HUGE down here in SE Florida....especially in the over 55 communities. I bet now over 90 percent of every over 55 community has at least ONE pickle ball court, with some having 2 to 3. It is the quickest growing sport currently in America. We have a court here where I live, and the demand is growing that they want to build an additional 2 to 3 courts.
