We were booked and confirmed for a flight from Newark to St. Martin for 10/24/15. Accidently found out that flight was cancelled. Their reason was it wasn't "in season". Has anybody else booked Newark to SXM for 10/24/15?

We would typically take the same route via Continental, annually in late September. United never listed a flight # for this route frown

Yes, I was and found out about them cancelling that flight by someone here on this board back on February 11, so we rebooked the flight with JB. Also check your return flight, as it is probably changed coming back also.....As they didn't send me an update on the change that they did.....

Weird...I haven't used AA but I have flown USAir (I guess that's AA), JB, United, SWA and AF over the last year and have been notified of flight changes by ALL of them...yes they were minor changes with the worse one being an add'l 2 hours sitting in CLT but I WAS notified for all...

Maybe just lucky???

Some people don't have "email notifications" checked on their airline profile. Solves a lot of problems.

We booked the United flight out of EWR for Oct 24 with a return on Nov 13. Because we have "make notifications" listed, we found out early about the change. After an hour plus on the telephone, United put us on USAir going down, but we had to return a day later, or spend a night in New York. No recompense for the extra day and hotel, but we do have the United flight leaving Saturday for EWR. Two days ago, USAir notified us of a change from USAir to American, but at least a direct flight from CLT, with no Miami stop. We were able to book an extra day at Beachside Villas, as we found out about the change early. We would not be able to get that extra day booked now as they are full for those dates.
Hopefully, United does not change their SXM to EWR flight.

When you are flying from the west coast, the logistics of finding decent connections when your flights are changed is daunting, to say the least.

Since the merger with Continental, United has become one of the worst airlines for screw ups, especially the EWR to SXM flights!

757 (Prior) vs. 737 (present)...

Fuel Cost Winner: 737-800

Fueling the 737-800 costs $7.02 less per nautical mile than the 757-300, a margin that can make all the difference in the long-run.

Obviously they are multiple versions of both models but I really doubt they would chose an aircraft that costs more to operate

Just playing Captain Obvious here

In the years since Continental and United have merged, we've had at least 3 flights between EWR and SXM cancelled without any email notification, and yes I've got the option to be notified by email checked. And they flights they've typically offered were worse than the ones I've found to replace them using Kayak, and all replacement flights were on United. What was really a great experience (flying Continental to SXM) has become awful.

HI..My wife and I were booked on a non stop flight from Newark to SXM on Saturday Oct.24..I check flights i book quite often and found out they "discontinued" flights out of Newark on Saturdays..well needless to say i was unhappy and had the United booking agent find a flight with nearly the same parameters for the $432pp round trip i originally purchased! Now im flying down to Miami with American from JFK with a 2 hour layover, changing planes and the flying American non stop to sxm...will be arriving at sxm at 2pm Saturday 10/24..not too bad but not non stop to SXM..non stop back to Newark on United on 10/31..The price stayed at $432 round trip, which was my main concern..Thanks

I remember around three years ago we had a flight change on United....we were notified but before I called in to change the dumb connection they gave us I went online and looked for a better option. There was a flight that was much more expensive but I wrote down the flight #'s and gave them to the agent. She had no issue at all with giving us that flight
Yes, I know it was years ago but it still might help to do the research before calling....

We used to fly CO on Fridays for our timeshare, but then when they merged UA discontinued Friday flights. We flew on Saturday this year. Have they now gone back to Friday departures - this is from EWR.

Hi.. I really don't have any idea..after my non stop return from SXM im done with United...as with most large company mergers...service goes SOUTH..and the prices go NORTH.. Im expecting the same result as American merges with U.S. Air
