Here are some new pictures received today from Morwaves Interesting, I noticed this artist's rendering shows palm trees. I wonder if they are going to plant some, as there are none there now. And the wall between the restaurants and the beach chairs looks pretty short in this one.

As my BIL says, "And there they were - gone!" Wow! I hope lots of new palms will be planted! This drawing of the proposed new plan looks pretty good, especially if the eateries can use their own paint colors! Wondering what restrictions there will be. Thanks for posting!

Thanks to Morwaves for sending the pictures. I agree it does look good.
Looking back at the pictures taken on July 4, I see that they took OUT the palm trees that were there on July 4. Hopefully they will re-plant palm trees.

Looks pretty good I must say... different, but good. I'm really liking the idea of more beach frontage, too. Thanks for sharing!

That part of it I kind of doubt is realistic. I bet that the chairs will be a lot closer to the water than it shows in that drawing.

Looks like a sea of chairs with no space in between them. Not to my liking.

From the pictures, it looks like the finished product might be a lot nicer looking than the others further to the north that are still standing.Only time will tell, but it will cast a new light on Orient and offer a new and different experience which is often good.Looking forward to checking it out.

Had you been to Orient before the construction? It was a sea of chairs before.

Yes. Many times. That is why we use the area where Bikini and LaPlaya is. The renderings make it appear that it will be MORE crowded with all the chairs and umbrellas so close. Time will tell as many finished construction projections seldom resemble the drawings.

I would disagree that it looks more crowded at all, I think it looks much better, but we will just have to see what it actually looks like.

Looks nice. One part of me says they should stop now and leave it undeveloped.

Islandgem; according to what I hear the project is supposed to be finished sometime in Sept. That seems very quick but they really moved fast in the demolition. I wouldn't think it would take as long as one might expect since they will be open air buildings. If your ticker is correct maybe you can give us an update if we don't get any before then.

My ticker is correct, but it will be November before we arrive there. It should definitely be finished by then and I will send along some pictures of the finished product.I am really looking forward to something nice there so I hope I will not be disappointed.

Those umbrellas are comically close to each other. Might as well be indoors. LOL

Wow. All the umbrellas are white too <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />And I've never seen 9 chairs under 3 umbrellas <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

The architects renderings inspired me to find pics of the area from a few years back. I found one taken atop the 2nd level of the old Brice Paradise back in 2009. LOTS of beach frontage and the chairs were pretty tight back then, too. (Bear with me - this is my first attempt at uploading a photo to this forum, thank you Beerman for the insructions).

It's been a long time since there was that much sand in that area. At least during late November to mid December.

Before we left Orient, we went by the construction site again and there were about 10 men standing near the Kon Tiki with papers in hand and pointing across the site towards Pedro's. Looks like this project might get started fairly quickly. Just touched down in Charlotte.

I do hope that they proceed quickly, so that the affected businesses can get back open soon.
Glad you made it back home OK!
