Morning travel talk buddies, we planning a get away to Key West, plan to drive in from Miami and fly out of key west so we can experience the highway drive without the rush to get back.. Plan to stay at the Pilot House .. Any advice on renting a scooter to get around and we would like to spend one day on the water with a snorkeling stop .. Any boat trips that are adult only, I know there is nothing like Peggy and Paul boat trip from SXM, but does anyone offer a similar trip?

There is a clothing optional boat trip. I don't remember the name, but people have talked about it here before. Try googling it. We are heading to Pilot House in October, sad to see it will no longer be CO, but pleased we will get one last trip in.

Have you been to Key West before? I see you are from NY?
We are from NY and never needed transportation down there. Walked all over the place in Old Town.
You can rent bikes easily if you need to.
Cheers

We walk everywhere. It's part of our trip, we really like to to a little walking tour every morning after breakfast. Our walks tend to end at Schooner Wharf at a little before noon so we can enjoy the end of morning happy hour, and then listen to Michael Mcloud at noon.
Bike rental is a good way to travel to any of the beaches on island, or maybe to stock island for lunch (Hogfish Grill) You can rent bikes at Pilot House. Virginia, and Daniel are very helpful with that sort of thing. Be sure to ask them for advice on restaurants, and bars. They are both locals, and love to help guide you to good spots for whatever you are seeking. As for scooters, I am sure they could help you with that as well.
It is a small island and we like moving a little slower so we can take it all in. I'm on an island, it's hot, I try to adjust to "island time". The walking also helps burn a few of the those extra calories from the great food, and drink.
You are going to love it!

Thanks Markis, we can't wait to get down there .. Up here in NY we are still waiting for summer to start.. I have talked with Virginia and Daniel on the phone, both were very helpful.. The pilot house sounds like a great place to stay, we are really looking forward to enjoying it before it all changes ..

We spend several weeks in Key West each year and have found that the Hurricane Hole on stock Island has great fish and their fish of the day is always the best we found. You can even rent a boat or stand up board there. Before you give up the car, a trip to No Name Key to eat and pet the Key Deer is pretty cool too.
