We have been here since Monday and it has been great. We had dinner with friends and on our own. We tried Fig, where my husband had a wonderful special with scallops. I had the grouper, which was a little too seasoned, but the service was great and we had a good time. It was quiet.
We went to Cugini last night and the pasta we had was so good--we will go back. We first ate there when they were in Marigot.
Dinner at Pineapple Pete's was as good as ever.

Spent most of our days at Mullet and the water was perfect. No huge waves!! Yesterday we went into Philipsburg for a little shopping. Dropped into DK, but no Deepti. We had lunch at Greenhouse and drove back in the rain.
We had breakfast at Zee Best that morning--because of the rain, they were having a problem seating people and forgot to take our order. But we did get our almond pastry.

Today the sun is shining and looks like a perfect beach day.

On our first night we joined friends at the RI for the Monday night Buffet. It was very good and a lot of fun with the entertainment.

Must mention Laurel's party at Marty's last night. It went well even with a couple of raindrops. We all got to see Sharon (Queen of SXM) and Jeannie (for groceries)besides the internet friends!! Thanks Laurel and of course our great bartender and host Marty!

The sand is incredible, Carol!! More than we have seen in years!

Off to dinner tonight with 4 couples at Chesterfields. It is Wild Bill's favorite.

So jealous, Terry. Glad the beach is so plentiful at BSV and that you and Rit are enjoying yourselves.

Chesterfields was really nicer than I expected. Beautiful location on the water and great food and service.
Being that it is Sunday, we are heading over to Orient today. Mullet is way too crowded on Sundays--yesterday the waves came back, and are hoping for good conditions at Orient.

There is a ton of seaweed here at BSV this morning and too rough for me to swim. We did stay here yesterday and I didn't get in the water. Rit got knocked on his butt, but didn't think it was bad.

It is down in Philipsburg. Between town and the cruise ship piers. Dock Maarten.

Good breakfasts too! Great happy hour.

A great day at Orient. Had lunch at the old Baywatch. Margarita Shrimp and Grouper sandwich. The sandwich was not the same--things change. Ended up with a BBC for lunch!!!
The water was so warm---beautiful!

Hi,

I must be no one because I am reading your post. HA! Love to hear where every one goes and has their fun every day. Not a bad thing to have a BBC for lunch. Keep posting and we will continue to keep reading.

Can't speak for anyone else but this gal's both reading and enjoying your up-dates. Please don't stop as IMHO it's always nice to know what someone else is doing and what they're enjoying - or not enjoying for that matter. Did you get my PM the other day? Hope we can still touch base at some point. How long are you here this trip? And glad Rit was okay.....I got tossed in a huge wave years ago and it scared the day lights out of me. So much so that now I won't even go near the water's edge when the winds are blowing and the swells are churning the waves.

Respectfully,

pat

Back again--last night was dinner at The Greenhouse in Simpson Bay with friends. The place was packed and we had to wait for a table. The service was still excellent and the food was great! So glad that we waited.
We went to La Bamba after dinner. The group, Category Five, was great. They do oldies, like us, on Sunday night. We actually got up and danced. I was a little uncomfortable about being there without bug spray, but didn't see a lot of mosquitoes.
Coming back to BSV, it looked like there had been some big waves near Sunset Bar & Grill. The road had both sand and water on it. We never know what we will find there, it changes so quickly.

This morning is beautiful, it looks like another good beach day. We have to go where the waves aren't!

Pat, I didn't receive your PM.
We are here until the 28th.

If the waves go away at Mullet, we will be spending most days there. We had a few wonderful days last week. I thought I was a goner last April, so no more slipping by the waves for me.

Have there been big waves at BSV? Surprised that it seems you don't spend any days there? When I'm staying there, most days I have no desire to go anywhere else!

We just returned from BSV on Thursday!!! We had a great time but found the water was rougher than last year. I did get knocked down by the waves once... I didn't even see it coming!!! We went to other beaches that were more calm because we had our son with. Carol: questions for you as we have only stayed twice at BSV... does the water ever get really calm there? You know, I really miss that place right now!!!! Oh well, until next year.

mika--most of the time when we stay at BSV, it's pretty calm. It was calm most of the time during our trip for 10 days in December. I guess you have been unlucky. Truthfully though, I don't get in the water a lot anyway. I prefer to hang out by the pool or on our deck.

Carol, the water here at BSV has been rough. It almost always has been that way for us. Yesterday and today it was full of seaweed and so was the beach. We are not pool people, but do enjoy our time being here. Such a great atmosphere.

Mullet was rough today and so was Baie Rouge, so off to Orient again. We had lunch, with friends, at Orange Fever, which was excellent. We are suppose to go to Mark's for dinner----too much food.

We lost our Villa keys at Orient--called our friends who were still there--and they found them. How is that for luck!!! Saved us a fee to get new keys.

Good luck finding your keys Terry! The water at BSV has always been a bit rough when we stay there as well. I have never seen it perfectly calm like in other places, but still beautiful to sit on the beach and enjoy the view.

Wow, sorry to hear about the seaweed also at BSV. Maybe it's a function of the season, as we've generally not had problems with waves most of the time and generally no seaweed, but we usually stay there in May or June..

Carol,

We were at Mary's Boon today and that end of the beach also had heavy seaweed and heavy waves. Someone staying there told us the seaweed wasn't there yesterday and was there this morning. Lots and lots of it. It is definitely not the norm for this time of year, and for sure, not in the amounts we're seeing. We were also told the French beaches facing Anguilla are also heavily covered with it though we haven't been in that area to see it firsthand yet.

Ok, Pat, thanks for the note. I surely hope that there won't be any seaweed at BSV for your inaugural visit there!

Carol,

TY but whatever it is, it will be okay with us. Life is way too short to worry about the little things. If there's seaweed and/ or waves, or not, we'll deal with it. It is what it is!!

I'll bet Pat that you are missing Anguilla right about now! Been beautiful here all week! No waves, or seaweed and crystal clear water! Been using my floatie! Sometimes I get in the water at Beachside but not this trip. Sometimes the water is fairly calm but sometimes not. Lots of seaweed our last morning there. Great location though! Can't beat the awesome view and your own facilities! Lol

We've been there a couple of times when it's been calm enough for me to go in. I don't like the waves so I'm hesitant but that's just me. David will go in most times. We love being able to walk out our back door and go directly into the water or lounge on the chairs so a good part of our vacation is spent onsite but we will venture to Orient a couple of days and Kim Sha typically one day.

Dreams was not open on our last trip although Le Sand was and we spent the day there. Can't wait to check out Bruno's place.
