Any new suggestions (post security) for where to pick up food for a flight with a 12:20 departure?

Johnny Burger wasn't open at that time on our last trip. We tried the sandwich shop and it was OK.

Any other ideas?

We usually either make sandwiches at the condo before we leave or else stop at Zee Best on the way to the airport. We've enjoyed both options on several occasions when we've flown JB home.

Flew back Feb 8. Apart from the burger place, 2 sandwich options - I think we were gate A4, near the gate was a premade sandwich / salad etc booth. Also another shop near A4 that sold sandwiches from an upright cooler, they had a ZeeBest label on them. Both the same price

The sandwich place at A4 is similar to "Subway Sandwich" place we have here in New Orleans, and they can heat it for you. The price is almost triple the prices of Subway though. I guess you are paying typical "airport prices" for food. The sandwich was pretty good though, and was freshly made. Two sandwiches, one diet coke was $25.00.
Did I say it was a little expensive ???

Last year there was a Domino's pizza cart across from the sandwich place.

With all the awesome choices for food in SXM, we avoid buying anything other than $water$ at the airport. Fancy sandwiches and quiches from Sarafina will go right through security, along with other treats. Go ahead: ask me how I know. ;-)

We buy sammitches at Peli Deli in SB prior to going to the airport and we eat them after having cleared security, waiting to board our flight.
It's cheaper than buying food at the airport and IMO, they're better too. We just buy drinks there.

You're kidding, right?!

With all due respect, we fly AA often both to and from St. Maarten in Business Class (AA to and from SXM/JFK doesnt offer FIRST Class) and if you get excited about their AA first class meals I'm shocked. It's food but really, a fresh ham and cheese grinder on a baguette from ZeeBest, IMHO, is head and shoulders over the meals they typically serve.

We flew United last year R/T FC and the food wasn't bad at all. Flying US Air R/T FC this year. I'll see how it goes. Have to agree that airline food isn't the greatest in the world but it sure beats a cold cellophane wrapped hogey from a kiosk.
Never said I was "excited" about the meals. Just didn't want to fill up on cr*p before I board.

To clarify, the first class, business class for short hauls are exactly the same. We had full lay down seats on our trip to Europe, definitely first class in every way, except, there was no first class on this aircraft. We have been flying down island "first class" for at least 5 years and have no idea why one is first and one is business class. The food is decent, better then Subway or Dominos <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Not much difference between first and business except farther up on the plane if both classes are available. Business class landing in SXM are in the same First class seats. At least that is the way it has been for us on AA, United and probably now on US Air.

Zee best is the best place to stop

The best place is the Bacchus outlet upstairs. Fresh grilled Panini and they're enough food for two people. Plus you can buy a half bottle of nice wine to go with.

Knowing the prices at Bacchus are a little high, even NOT at the airport, what would such a repast set you back?

We usually pick up something at The Taste Factory before getting to the airport. Is it still there??

Well at least the wine part seems right up my alley.

Where is the outlet? I don't remember seeing it.

That's interesting. Which type(s) of aircraft has first class on international flights to SXM?

pretty sure 747's have first class, KLM flies to SXM

US Airways 757s have first class. At least they did a couple of years ago.

I don't care where you sit on a plane (first-class, business class, coach, or on the wing), to me food from a good deli shop or restaurant, or even something homemade, beats airline food hands down. I've never had food worth saving my appetite for on a plane, not even in first class (except perhaps BA). <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

We have grabbed a sandwich from Taste Factory on the way to the airport the past two years! Yummy!

I had some left over baguette and cheese. mmmmm

Baccus has a place past security - it's really good - can get wine too - had a terrific sandwich there before a flight - beware that there is precious little at the airport - they don't even let you down to some of the gates until an hour before your flight and when you see the gate, you'll understand why....

The airport is also not well air conditioned - which i thought was a nuisance at the time - but wish i was there right now
