This is a very bad situation which needs a remedy as soon as possible. These outtages are a great concern for travellers to SXM. Even generators are not always a solution as they also malfunction occasionally. I am not convinced that this GEBE problem will be fixed soon!

I'm not sure how long it was out at the airport, but as you say, JD, not good on a Saturday. Ridiculous.
Of course, in addition to that situation, there was loadshedding over what appeared to be the whole Dutch side,

This just goes to show you how STUPID these people are that rebuilt the airport. You would THINK??? "Ahh maybe we should while we ARE rebuilding, we should install a dependable generator system" Not for nothing, that should have been on the top of the check list! Install dependable generator-check!

Sure, that should have been on top of the checklist.....but probably after the bribes were paid, there was no more money???
I love this island so much and the plans we have for December seem to be something we should re-consider.
