LinkThe story says they should begin arriving in 5 to 6 weeks, but no idea when they will actually be connected. Meanwhile, GEBE has begun posting loadshedding details for today.

I wonder who had made more excuses and delays, the airport or GEBE?

The thing that we are concerned about, is what foods should and shouldn't buy, or have to go out everyday to the market???

As long as refrigerator door is not opened food and power is out for only a few hours should not be in danger zone I am taking my food service recertification and most food can actually sit out for 4-5 hours in normal temperature before having to be refrigerated Some food are more prone than others

David--mahokid is correct, for a couple of hours, if the door is not opened, then the food is ok. Just don't be opening the door every few minutes.

Tomorrow doesn't look good already. Just for an example, power to be out in Beacon Hill from 11 AM to 3:30.

I don't think any day for at least the next several months looks good.

I am concerned about this as Beachside Villas do not have a generator. Perhaps this is really something they should consider as things will not be rectified for several months, I am sure.

Well just getting a generator is not much of a solution. This is about deeply rooted incompetence and corruption.

Elizabeth--are you going soon? I would be concerned if you are going this year.

Yes, I am scheduled to go in November and I am very concerned as I definitely need A/C all the time at my accommodation.

It will not solve GEBE'S problem, but it will help mine!

Best wishes, Elizabeth. You could try to contact BSV and tell them how important it is to you to have a/c. You are certainly not the only one.
Based on the loadshedding schedule for today, looks like many areas will be out for at least 4 hours in a row.

Just checking but am I right in thinking the GEBE outages only affect the Dutch side of SXM and not the French side - heading back in November and wondering how many candles to pack Dave.

Anyone on island now who can comment on outages this week? There has not been any loadshedding schedule posted since Monday. Just wondering whether things are finally getting better?

My current guests staying at La Terrasse in Maho have not had an outage since late Saturday last weekend. However, a few of my friends living in Cole Bay have had a few outages this week. Less than before.
