This morning there was no new seaweed at all on the beach so the beach guys only had to clean up the bits leftover from yesterday. [Linked Image]

We woke up to no electric, so we were able to cook breakfast on the gas stove but could not make coffee. I guess we could have gone to Maho or somewhere for it, but were too lazy. Electric came back on around 10 am.

We hung around the house during the day,

and cooked cheeseburgers on the grill for lunch. There was no breeze today so we closed up the house and turned the a/c on for the day. The view is just as fantastic through the glass of the slider! smile

Eric was on the computer and just watching the ocean or watching TV and I in my 'office' reading a book.

We watched the Wonder of the Seas leave port

and waited and waited for the Emerald Princess to leave, but never saw it, so headed out to Roma for dinner.

We managed to catch the sunset at Maho on the way.

We didn't know that they have valet parking, so Eric dropped me off and parked the car in the garage. It ended up being $2 for parking, so I assume we would have tipped a valet about the same amount. Since I wasn't doing the walking, I was fine with it. smile

I wasn't sure exactly where things are located within the building, so I walked into Mr. Chow's, which is in the front. I'm sure I'm not at all the first to do that. The lady at the reception stand directed me toward the back. There is a bar area in the middle between the two restaurants. We were seated in the dining room, which is a pretty low key space, and fairly empty at 6:45 PM. It is air conditioned, which was nice. I commented on that to the hostess and she said something to the effect of “we have to have a/c”.

Not that it was a big deal, but I did not see any specials. Not sure if they normally have specials or not. We asked for tap water and were served it, with ice, and it was refilled constantly. Such a small thing, but important, to me, rather than charging people a mint for bottled water. They have a large selection of wines by the glass and a decent selection of 'house' wines for $35 a bottle, plus more expensive wines. We opted for an Argentinian malbec?, which was decent. Eric ordered the beef tenderloin

and I ordered the lamb chops.

Both were excellent and accompanied by a nice selection of vegetables.

Neither one of us were hungry enough for dessert, so we enjoyed the last of our wine, as well as a complementary lemoncello. I do not recall ever having had lemoncello before and I think I would remember, as it was a kind of disgusting taste to me! I will know to decline it the next time!

One of the best things about the evening was the service, which was excellent from the moment we sat down. Our server was Yolaine, which I only remember her name because she gave us a paper with her name, asking us if we would post a review on Trip Advisor. Well, I don't do that, but I definitely will post it here. The service was probably the best we have had on the Dutch side, with the possible exception of Jax, which always has wonderful service also. And we also saw a class act by one of the other waitresses, as a patron had apparently paid $100 too much on the bill (in cash). She stopped him and gave him back a $100 bill. Apparently he had meant to pay $200 and in fact left $300. And, as has been posted here before, there is no auto service charge on the bill. We tipped above 20%.

So, from there we walked over to Casino Royale, and actually found a $5 blackjack table, where people were standing around waiting to play. Otherwise, the casino was empty. So, we left for Hollywood, stupidly thinking that if CR had a $5 BJ table, that Hollywood would also, but it was not to be. The tables were literally empty. So I sat down and lost about $50 at a roulette table, playing by myself, and then trundled back home to bed, beaten but not bloodied.

Thus endeth another day in paradise.

I had the tenderloin in March and it was one of the best I have had anywhere. With Marco running things, you can expect and get the service you mentioned. Glad you enjoyed it.

If we were going to be here longer, I might go back there for a pizza.

Carol we've had the pizza at Roma's and it's very good. Next trip I'm looking forward to sitting in the middle and ordering from their Happy Hour and appetizer menu. Plus another visit for the beef tenderloin dinner.

Love Roma. Have reservations for July 7 to celebrate our 54 and daughter's 24 anniversary. You can have Bailey's if you don't like limoncello. We always give the valet 5.00. Well worth it to us.

Didn't know that I didn't like limoncello, as I don't remember having had it before. But will try to remember that for the future, to ask if they can give me anything else.

Those lamb chops look great. Once when I went to Roma, I was served only two chops, and there was MINISCULE meat. I mentioned to the waitress that I thought the amount of meat for the price wasn't appropriate. She must have told Marco because he was there right away and told me the kitchen was cooking more chops for me and they would be out in a couple of minutes. I was impressed, but it bears out what everyone says about him.
