Cheers from Gwada!
This was a business trip and very little touristing. Drove all over the butterfly

A must to prebook a vehicle. The easiest location voiture pick up with avail vehicles are at the airport. Sixt and Hertz are open until mid evening.
I paid 150e for 2 days plus 10e per extra driver at Sixt. Ultd mileage.
Sixt reviews stated they charge for sand, etc upon return.
On our return, we also rented a wreck from a backyard rental place for 50e for 2.5 days. There was nothing left on island except... ptp, of course.
watch for speed cameras. they are well signed on the excellent highways.
traffic backups however the grid locks are usually less than 10 mins.
basseterre marina under major construction. water 17e for a fill up.
sail clear is $%&&$#%&**%#^. we were confused over and over again.

There is some english spoken though very basic. best to download a translator.
Driving here is efficient, no potholes, multi lanes, a dream! many roundabouts. use your signal.
Parking was easy in basseterre city, deshaies, etc.
Lots of great shopping. The largest Carib mall is abs impressive.
the one local meal i experienced was neutral.
Wahnfried, enjoy gwada. It is a huge island with lots to explore.
if you would like more info... ask away.

The shopping area at Jarry outside of PaP is the 2nd largest in all of France, so anyone would be impressed!
I usually spend at least one month every year there, although a lot of my time is spent in the Iles des Saintes. Once away from the tourist areas the food & company is great.
