Hello,

Jellyfish larvae (sea lice) spawn in the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean Sea during the summer months. Has anyone ever encountered them in SXM? They are very small and transparent, so you cannot see them, but they can leave a nasty sting.

Thanks!

Just once about 10 years ago while swimming on Orient Beach. Washed the area with some soap and water which helped a lot. Luckily it just got my leg. smile

Yes. I have encountered them at numerous times while swimming and diving around the island. All depends on time of year and prevailing winds and currents.

We've been in their company on several days over the years, mostly in Orient and once in Simpson Bay I think. We swam through them and felt we were on fire at first. Ultimately we just went to another beach. There's 37 of them.
