Looking for a restaurant to celebrate our 30th anniversary when we are on the Island. Would love some recommendations where we can enjoy a really special dinner.

Le Santal would be a great choice! Ask for a balcony table when you make a reservation.

A lot depends on what kind of food you want.

For extremely innovative French gourmet cuisine, l'Estaminet in Grand Case is perfect.

For excellent seafood with more traditional French preparation, l'Auberge Gourmande is a wonderful choice, but neither is on the water, if that's important to you.

Another French Gourmet choice is La Cigale in Nettle Bay. You can request a table right on the beach, lagoon side. I am pretty sure this is where we celebrated our 30th.

so many wonderful choices! We love Antoine's and Charter House. My husband and I actually cheers Happy Anniversary every time we go out!! People are always saying - oh, is it your anniversary and we tell them not officially, but it's another day we get to spend with the love of our lives!!

We had dinner last month at the Carter House. What a great time. Food, ambiance, waitstaff all were wonderful. If Simpson Bay is not close, I would also strongly suggest Ocean 82 in Grand Case, or La Cigale in Nettle Bay. You would definitely have (and pay for!) a memorable time at any of them. When you decide, be sure to mention it is a special event when you make your reservation.

I assume you mean "Charter House"?? I forget, that's where Saratoga used to be, or something else?

We went to Charter House on a Wednesday night and hadn't decided where to spend our anniversary dinner, which was the next day. We liked Charter House so much that we booked to come back the next night. We told them it was our anniversary and they brought out 2 glasses of complimentary champagne and had a sparkler on our dessert. It was really very nice.

If you like traditional French, La Santal cannot be beat. it is very elegant and old world.

The Charter House is in the location of the former Saratoga Restaurant in Simpson Bay near Scotia Bank.

Yes Carol, I meant Charter House. (this is what happens when you don't re-read one's post before hitting the send button!) Four adults and one child, and the server went out of his way to make her feel special. Definitely on our return list.

Ok, thanks. And someone else answered my question as to the location. We haven't been there, so need to try to make time to go there..

I agree, Tropicana. Ask for Nadish, tell her Cuckoo Joe sent you!

Thanks to all for the great suggestions. Based on your recommendations, I looked at the websites and menus online. I think we've narrowed it down to Oceans 82, Chart House and Tropicana. Might have to have two or three special celebration dinners!

I like Layla's - haven't been lately tho. Tropicana is nice also, but have only been there for lunch & it's been great.

Sol e Luna in Mt.Vernon gets another vote. The bartender is the best and the table is yours for the night. Very good dinner!!!

Le Soleil doesn't sound familiar. What previous restaraunt did it replace?

It actually has been there for a while. We ate there a few years ago. Good, but not spectacular. That listing appears to be just one person's idea. The only other SXM restaurant on the list was Tastevin. The two BVI restaurants on the list are not in my personal top five on Tortola, so I would take those ratings with a grain of fleur de sel..

My vote would be Tropicana. Service, food, ambiance-you can't beat it. And on top of that, the prices are reasonable.
