On our way back to Maho from Karacters we met friends from Canada on Maho Beach who own a unit at La Terrasse and spends most everyday on the beach by Driftwood. When I asked him about what happened to the fence he said that yesterday a United 737 pulled up to take off and was really close to the fence So close that the plane was on the beach side of the chevrons at the end of the runway and this happened. Made me think that maybe he was a former Insel pilot.

Whale Tail, we've seen people get blown off their feet! But that is crazy!! I remember Insel airlines! They use to bring that "rocket ship" That would cackle all the way down the runway!!!

I used to love to watch Insel Air planes take off! Made your heart pound. I remember being disappointed when I actually got to fly in one. No noise at all!

Wow, I wonder if anyone got a picture of him 'in the act' as it were!

Was in Maho again today and they have added additional pipes at 45 degree angle to help keep the fence upright. That should do it. smile

Elaine, I think my heart would be pounding if I was inside an Insel airplane.

That is funny, I rememmber that Insel pilot well. He used to open the window and wave before reving the engines.
