I apologize in advance as I am sure the answer is somewhere but I can't seem to find it and have confidence in what to book and when. We leave Jost on March 31 to STT to catch a 2:30 p.m. flight. We have Global Entry and just carry on luggage. Obviously first stop is Jost to West End. For the life of me I can't figure out if there is a ferry from West end To Charlotte Amalie mid morning (I know there is a 7 am Jost to West End ferry). Can someone please help. I'd rather not go to Road Town if I can help it. Also how long to allow for West End to CA or Red Hook? Many thanks

For now there is, but that could change: https://www.nativesonferry.com/west-end-to-red-hook/

Make sure you have your physical global entry cards with you - you can not use the service at STT without it. Also know that red caps ushering groups through the gauntlet will be able to cut in front of your global entry access.

The way they handle global entry is unique to STT. No where else are you required to have the card with you to use GE. Normally it’s a KIOSK but regardless your GE status is displayed to the customs officials. SKyCaps seem to be allowed by customs to demand your cards which is really strange. Allowing SkyCaps to take non GE people through the GE and jump to the front of the line is again abnormal. I suspect there is more to this than meets the eye and customs officials might be getting some considerations in return for very special treatment of Skycaps. I will at some point file a complaint but suspect it won’t change anything.

I have GE, which of course gets me Pre-check too. Last Tuesday at STT I just used an electronic boarding pass on my phone and Security didn’t even ask to see that. They told me they could see my status when they scanned my ID. Didn’t use a porter.

GE cards are not unique to STT they are used at all contiguous border crossings such as Mexico to USA where you don’t actually need to have a USA passport

Tom, when you say security do you mean the pre check line? If so be aware that having pre check does not grant you access to the pre check line unless you have it also on your electronic or paper boarding pass. There are several reasons why it might not show up on your boarding pass.
If you are talking about the GE line for customs there is not usually security. They bizarrely however allow the porters to demand GE cards even though there should be no need to show the card. Customs knows you have GE as soon as they run your name.

George, I’m referring to the Pre-Check line at Security. My Pre-Check status, which I have due to Global Entry, was on my electronic boarding pass, as my status is part of my AA profile. When I offered to show my e-boarding pass to the Security person, she said she didn’t need to see it because she saw my status when she scanned my driver’s license.

Tom - how can drivers licenses link to TSA entry status? I can see passports doing so but a driver license? Never heard of that.

When they ran his name the newer systems pull up your PNR. I have heard that there may have been some adding Precheck to paper passes with photoshop.

My last flight out of my small regional home airport, I only showed my driver's license to the agent. Had my boarding pass at the ready but I don't recall showing it. On my return from Las Vegas to home, again in the Pre Check line, I only showed my DL.

Interesting that anyone would go to the trouble of photoshopping a pre-check mark on a boarding pass. It is so easy to obtain PC, I can only assume they are up to no good to photoshop the pass.

I have a REAL ID driver’s license. They don’t replace passports, but that does mean my DL info is in Federal databases. So, that could be a factor. If you have Pre-Check, using your passport as your ID at Security would also show your status.

Interesting. We departed STT on Thursday (for IAD), got in the Global Entry Line, officer waved us over, I handed him my passport and asked if he needed my Global Entry card (which I had) and he said no, it wasn't necessary.

We fly out of STT a lot and are almost always asked if we have the card on us when we get in the line but have never been asked to show it.
