We will be arriving STT on a Thursday and will have 3 nights before we bored our boat on Tortola. I have a reservation at the Ritz; however, looking for recommendations on Tortola (or anywhere for that matter). Family of 4 (kids 9 & 11). My plan was to take a private water taxi from STT directly to our boat the morning of our charter. We arrive STT mid-morning so we are open to staying anywhere. Was looking at the Ritz, Westin on St. John or Sugar Mill on Tortola. We depart from Sopers Hole. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on your budget. Little Dix Bay or Bitter End on Virgin Gorda might work for you.

If you're going to water taxi to Tortola. I'd stay on STJ; the Westin is a great choice...

If you're going to water taxi to Tortola. I'd stay on STJ; the Westin is a great choice... I usually agree with Jason but not this time. The Westin is not a good choice in my opinion. The beach is not swimmable (often water quality issues) and is just so so anyway - it is a harbor after all. You really need a vehicle to get around the island to the beaches you want to be on. Jeeps are in short supply on island - if you do decide to stay on STJ book a jeep before your lodging. We really like Calichi at Picture Point - they don’t have a 7 night min stay. The pool is awesome and the views stunning. I wouldn’t stay at BEYC yet - not enough offerings for a land based stay in my opinion.

I would get right over to the BVI day 1 via water taxi if you are planning on using one anyway. At ages 9 and 11 you will want to be on a beach or as close as possible. Consider Cane Garden Bay on Tortola or Jost. Not straying too far from your charter base will keep everyone more relaxed.

If your budget includes the Ritz, perhaps an option would be a two bedroom at the Scrub Island Marriott. Great pool, couple of beach options and toys, boating adventures with Dive BVI out of the marina. Kids will enjoy.

With a high end budget there are a multitude of options in the BVI. Scrub is convenient for DYC charterers as it is their base but honestly isn’t all that special IMHO. Unless you want a cookie cutter resort experience, I would choose a unique place like Sugar Mill or splurge at Little Dix or, sigh, Guana.

Guana, I believe, only takes children during special weeks. Not sure about kids at Sugar Mill. That's why I was thinking Little Dix, or BEYC, depending on when OP is going. Another idea would be to charter a plane from STT to Anegada. Plenty to do with kids there.

Call the charter company and see if the boat is unhooked on some of the days prior. They might make you a really good deal to add a few days depending on bookings. 10 days is really needed in the BVI.

Great points: If I have 3-6 days before or after your charter, i would give great bonus discounts because too short to book another charter. The relaxation difference between 7 days and 10 days is incredible.

thank you to those that all provided great recommendations. I reviewed all of them. I am really torn. Coconut Breeze Villas looks like it is booked up for months! Sugar Mill looks wonderful... Little Dix Bay looks stunning, but I do not think there will be much to do with the kids.
Huge thank to everyone on this forum! I have booked everything based on the recommendations from everyone here. Super excited to get on the water with Voyager. I have 1 or 2 more questions off topic; prob best I create another post. You all are so helpful!

We enjoyed Myett's in Cane Garden Bay, right on the beach, cool room with a view of the bay, nice places to check out within a short walk, food and drink downstairs, nice people.

Saint Jones island is a magnificent place. Been there last year, and it was worth the time and money. The view is amazing, especially when you follow the Ram Head Trail Never heard of it. Do you actually mean St. John???

We stayed at the Ritz before and after a crewed charter in February 2021. We found it to be very crowded and the on-site bars and restaurants were poor in terms of quality and service.
I am a long time STJ visitor and while the Westin isn't for me, it would be solid option for the pool and exploring Cruz Bay.
Don't discount Little Dix because of the kids. If they like to swim and explore, they can easily entertain themselves. It would be my pick.
