I can't find a menu online now, but I saw one before and I thought the prices were SKY high, for St. Maarten. The steaks were all HUGE also, like 16 to 20 ounces, except for the filet. I think they need to refine their menu some, as the demographic of the majority of SXM visitors is not a good fit for what they are doing now. A NY strip was something like $70 with NO sides. Maybe they are in the process of revamping the menu, maybe that's why I couldn't find it online..
According to their menu online, if it is still correct, for Jax Steakhouse by contrast the price is--12 oz NY strip, WITH fresh veggies, choice of sauce, and parmesan herb fries, is $37. Served with a loaded baked potato, $43. Just sayin'.
Thanks. That doesn't talk about the sides though. I know I saw their whole menu somewhere. But come on people, they can't even post their whole menu on Facebook?
The sides are $11.00 & I think the Ceasar salad is something like $28.00 & it is not made table side. The two nights we are at La Patronsβs which is next door there were not many diners in there.
This is purely a personal opinion on my part but from my own PERSONAL perspective, if I go there once it will a lot and honestly, price has very little to do with it. I have always been a fan of island restaurants that are somewhat reflective of the island itself and based only on the photos shown, this new addition could be anywhere - New York, Boston, Chicago, MiamI, LA - and Iβm sure youβre getting my drift. I would far prefer an evening in a more islandy atmosphere with the scent of island breezes blowing through the dining room. And if I were on a beach dining in that atmosphere, even better. Iβd prefer a less upscale atmosphere even at those prices, and thatβs probably why Iβd prefer dining at Chesterfields or outdoors on the balcony at Sublime. Oh, how I used to enjoy dinner on the porch at La Vie En Rose. Wow! Am I ever showing my ageβ¦..

I hear ya. Honestly, I love a nice NY strip/shell but no way Im getting that grill to 1400 degrees like my local steakhouses can. But a nice sear on a cast iron ......chef's kiss, baby!!!
By the way, I sent them a note asking to see their menu and they sent me two pages, which I can't figure out how to post at the moment, but one page was the same as previously posted here in this thread and the other page was their burgers, which are $28 , again, without any sides. There were no salads on that page though. Also, the sides do not include either french fries or a baked potato?? (but they are $11 each)..
I think you are going to find some pretty significant increases in steak pricing, as with other pricing so those prices if quality cuts may be actually inline. If somebody is holding their price down now then likely their quality or size is going down as well, or their profit.
I know on our last trip in Nov/Dec I saw a difference in quality and I have noticed that in the US as well as Mexico as well as price increases. Mexico by the way has some great beef from the Chihuahua area.
Pat, we sure hear you on that! We loved La Vie en Rose, especially the tables for 2 on the balcony.
