yep gendarmes at the roundabout at hope estate. Some vehicles going around them but nothing coming toward them from cadisco way. We turned around & came back to friars.
we aren't doing that today in case we can't get back to the french side where we are staying. We were prepared to not get to the dutch side occasionally but not so much from somewhere on the french side to another place on the french side. We have 2 pools here & hot tub so not taking too much hurt & food & alcohol. Still annoying though. Still happy to be here.
This what is happening is total manipulation by White French people with money against Black Local French . Add to add to this French St.Martin is part of France and the Local Politicians on French St.Martin never really looked out for their people. Just check Orient area , totally White French people and gated Villas. Well me and Wife started from zero on the Dutch side from 1991 and today we have blessed ourselves with what we have achieved thus far and continue to move forward . God is love.
Club Orient is their next target... There was always questions to Brink’s purchase of Club Orient property? Glad to see Cedric is voicing his opinion and using his influence in these matters.
We will be staying in Orient Beach hotel un few weeks. Can someone advise if these road blocks will affect our stay based on our location? We will be renting a car and primarily driving from and to our hotel to the mainly touristic places (beaches restaurants..etc). If we are affected, any suggestions how to avoid it (alternative roads, taxis instead of renting a car and so on..)
Dmitry--Frankly I don't think anyone here could tell you whether your vacation will be affected or not. It depends on where the roadblocks are, if any. Renting a taxi is not going to help you if there are roadblocks.
Thanks, I was mainly thinking about alternative roads. Hopefully there are more than one way to get to and from our hotel ;-) I will be relaying on Waze to navigate and hopefully it will display all the alternatives.
When we need navi in a different country we use the Maps.me phone app which uses just GPS...no cell network needed. Works all over the world and you download the country map when you are on wifi.
It's not Garmin but it works..and....it won't cost a bundle in cell data like Waze
Blocking on the sidelines of Webster case A gendarmerie operation has been happening since this morning on the scene of the dam erected since Monday, blocking all traffic between Grand Case and the Orleans District. First shoveler has been removed. Discussions are underway for the truck. Students waiting to pass both sides.

Google Maps also allows you to download locations for use without cell service or internet. Once you've downloaded the maps, all that's required is your phone's GPS signal, which typically doesn't involve paying for cell service. We had service last month, but we downloaded a map of the whole island just in case.
One thing to remember is that alternate routes based on traffic or road blocks may not be suggested if you're just using the GPS-only feature with downloaded maps rather than the internet. Your phone won't be getting the real-time data but will instead rely on what you've already saved. You could always check routes when you're connected to WiFi, though.
I once considered buying in SM but happy I did not. While I do not understand the details of this issue does not appear fair, perhaps a legal mess? Lesson learned.
So much for dinner in GC tonight. We're in Orient Village and it was closed this morning preventing us from getting tested at Hope Estate. We took the circuitous route to Bellevue - both were negative. The road had reopened by then, but traffic was still hindered by the crowd at the gendarmerie. We're going home tomorrow to the cold, but won't be back until this and other issues are resolved. I'm tired of road closures.
