Planning a charter out of Red Hook in November. Would like to sail to St Croix, for the sake of sailing. Not sure what to do or where to go in St. Croix for a day. I’m aware of Buck island. Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks.

Wandering around the historical buildings and waterfront of Christiensted plus eating at the boardwalk is pretty cool.

I've posted several STX suggestions on this forum. Search for more details. Plan a dawn departure, preferably from Salt Pond Bay. Depending on wind angle and seas you might be lucky to head straight to Buck Island, STX, otherwise you'll likely wind up off Christiansted with a 30-40 minute upwind motor to Buck Island. It's a great day stop. About 1.5 hrs before sunset take a leisurely jib-only (with 1 engine as needed) sundowner sail to Christiansted Harbor. Study the chart before you leave as the markers at the harbor entrance can be confusing for a first time visitor plus there is a reef north of Protestant Cay that splits the approach into two channels. Take the eastward channel and anchor 100-200 yds off the fisherman's pier/boat launch at Altona Park. Dinghy to the waterfront for dinner, then return for a walking tour in the morning. Hopefully Fort Christiansted will be open for you at ~8:30. You will likely find yourself wanting to return to Buck Island, otherwise sail north.

Great to know about sailing there, but what is there to do “on st. Croix for a day?” I will be there for business and looking for more suggestions such as FLJim posted. What about for overnight accommodations? Some of the north side (Christiansted) beach resorts look decent but what about Frederiksted? The Fred looks interesting but never been to ST Croix before so all tips welcome. My business meetings will be about 5 miles east of the airport
