Somehow, this doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. I think this is the same character who is building that "14" monstrosity. And he plans to put another beach bar on Mullet??

I read this last night and am PISSED!

Who gave that man permission to build way beyond the beach?!

Probably the same person that gave Topper the “verbal “ go ahead to clear next to El Zafiro and build that monolith that doesn’t look right down here.

Would that be the same as deep pockets need filling? I am so very sick of the graft and corruption of this island.

The gentleman in the article is the developer of the twin towers at Mullet. (Project 14). The boardwalk doesn't sound like a hateful idea, it would be unobtrusive of the actual east end of Mullet beach and add a flavor of the beach that existed pre-Luis (liked the picture of the old boardwalk). The beach bar is a little more concerning, but if built on the western end, near the Cliffs, it might have potential.

I figure those who own property at that end of the beach would NOT be happy to have a beach bar there, but I could be wrong.

I really don't see a problem with this if done properly.

He is the 14 towers developer. If his objective is to upgrade the immediate area to enhance his project, a great step would be to upgrade the road(lake) thru Mullet Bay….Dave

That road is private property, he can't touch it.

Unfortunately SXM is the Wild West. Just depends on who you know and how much money you got and you'll get it done. Just look around. Hopefully some serious push back will come but the people just don't seem to scream long enough or loud enough.

Maybe if they rebuilt the boardwalk, out and around, towards Maho, they could open additional parking

A key part of urban planning is the public interface between the street and a large commercial project like these two towers. The developers have just erected a new concrete wall along the University Drive side of their project. The wall is quite hostile -- and it comes right up to the edge of the street.

If Mr. Teboul really cared about the community, he might have included a new public sidewalk on that side of the street. Maybe even with some flowers or plantings. That would have shown concern for the community.

But a concrete wall at the edge of the lot line? Really? Who approved that?

I am not sure that that "Urban Planning" goes into any development project on Sint Maarten. Development on Sint Maarten reminds me mostly of the wild wild west, if there is land available and money to "grease" the politicians hands than anything is possible.

The only rule that seems applicable is "They that have the money make the rules, and the greater community be damned".

We thought the same thing, walked back from dinner and felt like it was a tunnel! We took the “death trap” sidewalk - just have to really pay attention when it’s dark to miss the holes and not kiss the steps! Sidewalk and plantings would have been lovely but nope - just another fortress to keep people out!

Here's a photo -- there's a street, and then at the edge of the street, there is a new wall. No room for even a cat or a chicken on the right-hand side of the road.

Looks fairly dangerous, from a road standpoint, let alone people walking.

Not sure if that’s a sarcastic comment or not. I’m not happy. We have edured lots of damage. Not sure where the lawsuits stand. But just too darn tall

MPO, it doesn't look absolutely hateful, you can at least turn your chair around and look out at the beautiful ocean. It's not between you and your view of the ocean, that is another plus. Knowing some of those people in charge, you could have been looking at something like below.

No it doesn’t , until a storm happens. The Cliff covered us in glass. Any privacy the garden units had on their balconies are gone. Like I said, just too tall for the area.
