I recently watched Captain Ron again and realized that there was something very familiar about the scene where he docked the boat at the St. Haag Yacht Club after motoring thru the marina at full speed. I went back to my photos of our trip to the SVIs and compared the St. Haag Yacht Club building in the movie to the bath house building on the dock right by Sail Caribe's boats in Marina Del Rey. Sure enough, they were one in the same. I wish I could have been there when it was filmed. I could watch that scene over and over again.

are you sure, in the scene it appears people are at a restaurant or bar, there is nothing like that at Puerto Del Rey in Fajardo.

Not familiar with it, but the bar could easily have just been added. It was really just a couple of tables and a bar stand, nothing really permanent.

I'm looking at a picture that we took of the boat we rented with the bath house building on the dock in the background. It's a 3 story building with a walk through in the middle. Second story has a balcony. There's a cupola for the 3rd floor. It's been painted a different color since the movie. Has a tiled roof. If I can figure out how to post it, I will

Here's a link to Sail Caribe's web site that has a picture of a family walking down the dock. In the background is the building in question. http://www.sailcaribe.com/base-puertorico.php

I have been to Del Ray a couple of times. That bath house in the middle of the main dock is pretty distinctive.
Now we'll have to rent Capt. Ron again!

The bathhouse used to have a bar on the top floor when the film was made.

The bar at the beginning of the dock is called Lollys. The bar at the bathhouse has been closed for years after hurricane Georges and will be renovated and opened in a few months according to the dock personnel. It definitely was opened during the Capt Ron movie but the tables on the dock were put their for the movie.

Ah! That's right, Lolly's! It was driving me crazy, thank you!

Here's the picture of the boat we chartered with the bath house visible on the dock in the background. Wanderer would have docked to the left of the building right under our boom vang. http://flic.kr/p/nhduWG

Lots of the St Haag footage in Captain Ron was filmed in Old San Juan. We had a lot of fun a few years ago posing for photos and reciting lines from the movie.

Love that movie and are reminded quite frequently... "Wanderer" is moored here in Waterford Marina and being restored.... So strange to walk by her and envision Capt. Ron himself hoisting a cold one!

Just a little dry rot. Good thing most of it's above the water line.
