Unfortunately, it had the exact name of the place in St. Lucia - Gros Islet. However, I'll see if I can find another photo and carry on.

I thought the sign was telling you where the event would happen. Didn't realize it was the location of the photo.
I don't know where your next one is located but it reminded me of the airport in the old days on Tortola, it's just a much nicer building.

Here is the latest photo which will provide a good clue regarding the part of the world photo 1 was taken. However, the name on the nose of the plane is NOT the answer to the quiz.

It may be, but the first picture is the subject to guess.

Aha - I was sure I knew the location of the airport in the first image, but the second picture threw me, since there is no stadium in sight of the "terminal buildings" in the first one. So I cheated and called up google earth to see if perhaps a stadium had been built.... it hadn't. But since used outside help I'll have to defer to others.

I added picture 2 for two reasons: 1.as a clue to what part of the world to consider and, 2 because I only have one picture of the location of the first picture which is the subject photo to guess about. Carol, a long way from anywhere in Africa.

As I said, I don't know the airport but since there seems to be two entrances and one says domestic m thinking it is a larger island or an island chain. St. Vincent & the Grenadines?

Fran, you are warm. Now tell me which one in the chain of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines - I've already eliminated one island for you.

I thought since Fran narrowed this down there might have been some guesses by now. Since there have been none, feel free to use Google to identify picture 1.

Canouan Airport? Looks familiar. We flew in there back in 2008 when Moorings had a base there and AA was hubing the Caribbean via SJU

Adrian, good catch. The first time I posted it, I saved the file as Canouan after I used Paint to obscure signs. I didn't realize the file name would show up but it did and Sleepychef pointed that out immediately. Since I don't have many pictures I used it again hoping Sleepychef wasn't watching. I guess he wasn't.

This one is a two part question:
What city is being photographed?
What city was the photograph taken from?

Not foolish at all Fran, but incorrect. However, like Philly it is located in Commonwealth.

OK, so Virginia, Mass or Penn, since I can't think of anyplace in Kentucky where you could get tall ships.

I have a guess but no picture to post. If I'm right, I'd like Tom to post another picture.

Ok, my guess is that the photo is taken from Arlington Virginia, and the photo is of Washington DC.

Nope - Incorrect Carol
The tall ships in the picture cannot get under the Nice Bridge that links La Plata, MD and Dahlgren, VA on the Potomac River.
AF-1 made it at low tide

Very cool shot. I've been in the Norfolk/Portsmouth area before but quite a while ago. Please go ahead and post another location.

The Norfolk picture was taken during the 200 year anniversary of the 1812 war. A very large gathering of Tall Ships from around the world.
So staying on the water... How about this one?

West Coast is correct, but not the one you are thinking of Fran... As for the picture here is another version - this time I had fun with PhotoShop
