I just logged in and the promenade in Nice would have given it away. I spent many weekends in Nice while living down there, but that sculpture with Cellos is a new one to me.

Unfortunately I recognized it from the Bastille Day terror attack a few years ago. I'll post a new photo shortly.

Tom, you're correct. I was standing on the USS Arizona Memorial. A very somber experience.

I have never been there, but I have heard everyone speak of the oil slick... One day a trip that must be taken.

Here is one with a funny backstory...

Well that did not take long - good job Fred

Back Story (unverified)
This beautiful home was built by a dentist... Pink Gums, White Porches (Upper and Lower) and of course the dental molding that wraps around on the top...
I guess the guy did not get enough work....

Hope DRs in other disciplines do not follow his lead smile wink

Go for it Fred you are up!

Tom, please do me a favor and post another picture. I'm going out of town in the morning and won't have access to pictures (and don't have time tonight).

Adrian, been there as well. Probably 20+ years ago. Very sobering. The video that is shown before heading out to the memorial to me was shocking. Apparently I did not realize how massive the explosion was that sank the Arizona. I was literally in tears after watching that.

Go Irish!!

I am thinking of joining this fun looking game !! I have not travelled to the extent all of you have and may not be great at guessing but have tons of photos in my vault from my travels .
What are the rules?

Come on in--the water's fine! grin Not a lot of rules, just that you must post a photo that you have taken yourself, can be from anywhere in the world. You can give hints or not, up to you. People are not supposed to use Google to get an answer until 18 hours have passed from when the picture was first posted. Whoever gets the picture right posts the next one. A lot of us have gone through all the pictures we have, and thus are not answering, as if you don't have a picture to post, you shouldn't answer.

Ok got it ..so I will most likely not get many other photos answers so is it ok if I post a few ? ...very bored stuck at home with few prospects of travelling anywhere in the near or distant future sadly .

Captain Ward is recovering from shoulder surgery and has his own private nurse ...but makes for a long week in the Canadian winter..

......on a positive note I get to give covid shots and receive my second one on Sunday ...hoping this thing comes to an end soon

Hi Kim. We can't really have people posting photos out of turn, so let's do this--Some of us have not been able to answer for a while, because we don't have any photos let to post. So--for a while anyway, everyone can answer, regardless of whether they have a photo or not. Then, once the poster of the photo has acknowledged someone has gotten it right, then the correct poster can designate you to post the new picture, IF they don't have any pictures themselves. OK???

So, anyone got a guess on Tom's picture?? If you know what it is and don't have a picture to post, answer and if your answer is correct, let Kim post a new picture for you.

Hint 1: Just a short ride away from the harbor in the picture the road comes to an end

I was going to Bahamas, but the hill with the cross stopped that guess.

SO I am guessing Grenadines somewhere?

And Kim, just guess anything, the guesses narrow it down. Some people know it right away, the rest of are truly guessing.

Sorry Ellen you are incorrect...

Hint 2: The harbor town and the pope have a lot in common....

Ellen you are correct on the Pope's home.
But that is not what the town has in common with him..

Albeit spelled slightly different

Best to Ward.

So if you climb to the the top of the hill where the cross is located and turn around... this is your view.
Not Argentina!

The inspiration of this simple man's name from Assisi is what the Pope and the Town have in common.

So now all we need is the town and the country

The original photo contains what looks like a small Citroen van. They don't sell that many Citroens outside of France these days. The buildings could be Mediterranean as well so I'm going France but can't get any closer than that.

Hint: Department 971

And JP no truer words have been written... Spain, France, and WINE

With the aid of google I've learnt that Guadeloupe is Department 971 of France and that there is a town called Saint-Francois in that department so I presume that is the answer?

MIke,

You are correct. The town (or commune) of Saint-François is on the far end of Grande-Terre (the blue island) of Guadeloupe.
Close to the best beaches on the island and not far from the tip where one will find La Pointe des Châteaux. (The Cross Picture)
Quiet fishing village with a nice harbor, which is surrounded by restaurants and bars.
We stayed right on the harbor, and absolutely loved it.

You are up Mike! Where to now?
