SXMScubaman do you know when the conversation was? I searched but didn't find anything recent. When we were on island in January 2020, there was talk that they were going to rebuild Calmos in Grand Case but then Covid hit and I'm sure everything got put on hold. We've always stayed in Grand Case for the 25+ trips down since 2002 and have had great times at Calmos. I really hope they rebuild there again. Great times!
Doc - you will love Le Telegraphe - one of our new favorites... the view is not hte same as Calmos, but the food is very good. We're passing on this Oct.,but are planning May - maybe we'll see you then...
When we were there in January, Le Telegraghe had just recently opened in Orient. However, I don't thing anything can replace Calmos in Grand Case. So many great times there. Just hoping they come back.
We loved Calmos. Alex treated us like long lost friends. We were invited behind the bar for pictures. The atmosphere, the service, the location, the family Sunday gatherings, and in our opinion the grilled shrimp and a bottle of wine was a much needed part of every vacation, We had so many good times there. We will support Alex in any establishment and look forward to dining there. PNP, we will see you in May. We have a need to be back to our favorite island and we hope to see our friends who live there and friends from away we have met there. carib cheers, doctorj
Add us to the favorable reviews of Le Telegraphe. We had dinner and a long lunch there with friends - both were excellent. When we talked with Alex in Dec., he said that he had planned to reopen Calmo's this month. Of course the virus could have delayed those plans.
We were told, by a local, that Calmos was open. They were mistaken. We loved Calmos for the view and the vibe. Food was what I would call "bar food". We ate once at Le Telegraphe. Absolutely, better food than Calmos!
Sometimes locals don't know anything. Just like home when there is construction going on next door to where they work and the employee just shrugs shoulder and gives you a blank look when you ask what's going in.
