I am looking for a good clothing optional all inclusive somewhere in the Caribbean or Mexico. My wife and I have never been to one. She is a little apprehensive about it but is willing to give it a shot. We would prefer somewhere that is not full nude around the resort just part of the beach until we can get used to it. Does anyone have any decent suggestions for a first time?

Are you familiar with any of the Caribbean islands and/or have a favorite island? For Mexico, the premier nude resort is probably Hidden Beach. Haven't been there myself, but my understanding is that there isn't really a beach at the resort (despite the name of the resort) . There is another thread here about Hidden Beach. There's not a lot of nude resorts left in the Caribbean, unfortunately, but if I were going to pick one now, it would probably be Grand Lido Negril. It is a small section of a much larger resort. My understanding is that it is now mandatory nude on the beach, which I don't know if that would be helpful to a first timer or not. Maybe so. The rest of the much larger resort is all clothing required. I enjoy Negril in general, and you can venture outside the resort if you wish and that is interesting to me.

Finding such a place has been my ongoing challenge. My wife is comfortable topless, but would prefer to keep her bikini bottoms on. My search for a resort that doesn't require one to be fully nude at the pool or beach has not produced any options for us. I understand the reasoning, but unfortunately it limits our choices.
So, we just stick with trips to Haulover or Orient for now.
Good luck with the search.

Personally, I find mandatory nude to be ridiculous, as the 'nude nazis' are more hung up on clothes than those who wear them! ...but that's just me. I'm not certain, but I thought Grand Lido San Souci was clothing optional. You might check that out, if you haven't already. When we went there, Grand Lido Negril was clothing optional, but I understand that has changed now. I agree that Orient is the best choice in the Caribbean, but the original poster was looking for an A/I.

If you are just interested in a nude beach, there are several options. Both Couples San Souci and Couples Negril have nude beaches, while the rest of the resort is clothing required (not optional at all). Couple Tower Isle has a nude island. Nude is nude there, but only on the beaches or the island. I believe there are a few other resorts with nude beaches in Jamaica.
Hawksbill resort in Antiqua has a clothing optional beach. The resort is not clothing optional. It is all inclusive. Not been, yet, but considering it.
Grand Lido is no longer clothing optional. You must be nude in the pools and in the public areas specific to Grand Lido. The exception is that you can wear a suit in the sea you can reach by climbing down the ladder there. But, there's a huge conventional resort you are attached to, so you could just try the nude areas when you like, but spend most of your time in the other parts of the resort that require clothes. We're there in 28 days, so this is what the manager indicated in the last week or so.
It may not be your cup of tea, but most of Hedonism II is clothing optional. If you don't go to the nude beach and nude pool area, all other areas are clothing optional. Works great for us. I can swim nude on the larger regular beach or in any of the other pools, while my wife wears a suit if she wishes. As long as you have an open mind and don't care that you may see more than you want, it's a lot of fun.

Thank you all for the advise. We will definitely look closer at the couples resorts.

Just to be clear, know that the nude beach at Couples San Souci is mandatory nude.

Except for All Inclusive, Playa Sonrisa might be a very good place to start. It’s incredibly laidback, relaxed and beautiful.

Does anyone have any decent suggestions for a first time? The above recommendations are all good... I would like to add an alternative option for a “first time” clothing optional vacation experience. Instead of heading to the caribbean destination resort, my recommendation would be to go to Cypress Cove Resort in Kissimmee Florida. It is a beautiful clothing optional resort with a huge set of options for lodging ranging from very nice 1 and 2 bedroom condo buildings, a lot of RV full hookup sites, and a housing area with privately owned trailer homes. They have two restaurants, two swimming pools, two in ground jacuzzis, sports courts, and even a nine hole pitch and put golf course. We have stayed there several times and are taking a 5th Wheel travel trailer down for a two week stay in April. You can fly into Orlando International Airport, rent a car, and be there in a half hour or so. You can even take a drive over to Disney World for a day if you want... Check out the Cypress Cove website to see if you might want to go there for your first time. Send me a private message if you have any questions.

Hey Mickster. We are still chillin on our special beach in south Maui. Mamma wanted a rest day so I diverted to Little Beach today. For us on the west coast I have found this place to be a real gem for C/O options. Take it easy on the golf balls. CDunkin

Cypress Cove in Kissimmee Florida is also a very good choice.

Our first time experience was at the former Desert Shadows, (now Desert Sun Resort) in Palm Springs, CA.
I purposely chose an upscale type of resort for our first time, as many of the locations nearer to us were more rustic, and I knew my wife wouldn't love that part of it. I also chose Desert Shadows because of their nude requirement around the pool. I didn't want my wife to feel out of place sitting there among other women that chose not to disrobe at all, or among a bunch of men whom were nude and some women that chose not to be fully nude. My rationale was that we would be all in this together, nobody would be different in terms of clothing. She wouldn't have to feel like others around her were being more modest than she was.
It went very well. Almost 20 yrs. later and Desert Sun is still our most favorite resort, and we've tried 5 or 6 others. Some had a CO rule, and we find ourselves more comfortable with everyone nude at least around the pool. For other activities and meals, dressing is fine with us. We don't hate CO, we just prefer nude.
To be clear, Desert Sun is CO anywhere on the resort, but complete nudity is required in the pool, in the jacuzzi and on the pool decks.
You might look into trying somewhere that has other types of accommodation in the immediate area should the experience not be to your liking. It would be no fun to pay the rates for a nude resort and determine that you want nothing to do with it but have no other options to move to, especially in another country.

Club Orient Saint Martin. Unfortunately the resort is no longer usable in terms of staying there, but the beach is great and very much worth going when the island gets back to normal. My wife and I like to stay to ourselves yet enjoy the nude beach. Everyone blends in and you feel very comfortable. Works out well there.

My wife and I have been doing nude beaches in the Caribbean, Mexico, and Hawaii for decades. IMHO the best nude beach is Orient, on French St. Maarten, even without the Club Orient naturist resort open. Restaurants on the beach are available. GREAT beach, without anyone hassling you to be naked right away if you want to take your time. For "AI" the new SECRETS resort is about 7 minutes away (if that), and by the time you come it should be fully ready (book far in advance). "SXM" has incredible dining, Front St. Philipsburg has great jewelry bargains, lots of scenery, and warm people. Hope this helps. BTW I did a story about "Trying Naturism for the first time" years ago. PM me and I'll give you a link, not sure I can publish it here. (I'm a travel writer.)
