There is hope for SXM because everywhere I look May 4th is the date to open the world. SXM follows whatever the rest of the world is doing...

Morning.
We are in the same boat as you. We are due to fly in on May 9th for two weeks and serious thinking of postponing until Oct. Waiting on a call back from my doctors and that call will be what makes my mind up. I really don't think SXM will allow any flights in from the US that soon but, we will see. Good luck on your May 7-8.

I still don't understand this comment. Do you mean that international flights will resume? Trust me, "the world" will not "open" on May 4.

Agree, May 4th will be a good day to go out and catch the virus.
Many places will have hit peak infections but the virus will be readily for those who venture out freely.
May 4th is really April 34th.

carib cheers I don’t think anyone can predict. New things happening daily. Please be safe in April and we will take May as it comes. Could the new Abbott labs test be used in airports at some point? Just a hopeful thought. doctorj

I think something like that might be a big booster of tourism (airlines, cruises, other resorts).
At some point we have to know with certainty who the red dots and green dots are and be able to quickly determine red and green dot status.
In 2014, I was on a 5 country business trip and went from Netherlands to Norway on a Wednesday. On Thursday in a mtg I new I wasn’t well with a fever and I felt contagious. I moved away from the main table and didn’t shake hands. ON Friday afternoon, I went to a pharmacy in downtown Oslo and they pointed me to a private doctor. The doctor gave me antibiotics and as I had a 6am flight through Germany to Istanbul he took a tiny squarish pipette pin prick from my finger and put it in a machine. He had an answer in minutes as to whether my infection was too “hot” to travel.
I don’t know what that machine tested that quick, but a got the OK to Fly to Istanbul, ate room service and slept as much of that off as I could before Monday meetings. It was scary and the cough lasted for some time and I had to visit Italy on the way back.
I can only imagine having this to fight alone in a foreign country.
Let’s hope for extensive mitigation of this bug.

Amen. If you are worrying about a flight anytime before the end of the year, I think you are a dreamer. Only time will tell, but I suspect that this virus is going to get so huge that worrrying about a vacation will eventually seem very small. In 1918 the Spanish flu, which had nothing to do with Spain or Mexico, killed MILLIONS.

No way, I think September at the earliest, especially the mess the US is in.
