The beach is here in all its glory with no seaweed to prevent walking full length from rocks to papa’s.
New:
Seen a few bees buzzing. Dont look like they are into landing stinging but we don’t recall bees visiting us in the past.
The chair folks do the usual umbrella pickup 330ish to 4 and are encouraging you to actually leave at 430ish. You can stay but you have to move your car outside the lot which they lock with a chain and park by the vacant carbets. I get the feeling its more than a we’re closing thing like it would be a good idea for you to leave.
Not many staying and we normally would. We’ve always been lingerers il near dark before the storm when staying at Club O and last year.
The boutique does not appear open or have anything to sell. Didnt actually walk in.
Burger, fries as good as always.
They have real chair tags like before the storm. Last year it was a memory thing and they were actually hit/miss at collecting everyday.
Alot of familiar and new faces and sone you always see not there yet.
Still the best place on the planet.

Paper WASPs... They are making there nests in the abandon chalets. Cedrik needs to get wasp spray and get rid of the nests.

Love your post about the bees. We are beekeepers and the bees here are not honeybees but do not sting. Please do not spray them. They do no harm, only good!

I agree with the "Do Not Spray" the bees. They will help bring some of the plants, bushes and flowers back to life again on Club O. Even though we can't see progress with the rebuilding, at least we may get to see a greater variety of flowers and plants.

Found this. "While not an aggressive species by nature, paper wasps will sting if they are disturbed or their nest is threatened. It's unusual for an impregnated paper wasp to sting, but it can happen."

Several years ago I got bitten on my leg while sitting on Plum Bay. The pain was immediate and excruciating. I immediately put my ice water on it and we headed back. By the time we got back to LaVista, I could see several bites, I was swollen and they were hot to the touch. Went to the Simpson Bay Medical Clinic. Told the dr what happened; he told me that I got bitten by a “Jackie,” a type of SXM wasp. When they bite, they bite more than once. Basically he said they go right up the arm or leg until you happen to kill it. They are not like the typical wasp. I had a severe allergic reaction to the bites. I was given a shot plus meds and told come back in 4 days to recheck them. It actually took 3 days for the bites to subside. What a great souvenir!

Well the bee were interesting but I thought more folks would take note of the closing time and wanting your car moved off Club O at around 430.

Yes. Wasps bite multiple times unlike honey bees that sting once then die.

Pelican--did you ask Cedric about it? I wonder if someone was robbed or something after dark? To me, I think it sounds like a good idea to get out of there before dark. All kinds of human roaches come out when it's dark and no one is around.

For what it is worth, the chairs at Mullet Bay are usually collected around the same time. No gate at the parking lot at Mullet but this could all be for safety reasons with respect to Orient.

We were asked to move our cars outside Club Orient property many times so they can lock the chain. This is nothing new. It is done when most customers have left and few beach goers are staying longer to enjoy the late afternoon.

We havent seen him yet. Probably mostly to secure their area but a chain isnt goint to stop anybody. Honestly we got the impression they thought it would be a good idea to get out. We’d like another 30-60 minutes. But wed have to cover up move car walk up. First world problems.

...or, you could just park the car over by the carbets to begin with.. But I do think it would be better to not be there after dark anyway.

Yes, last April we had to move our car if we wanted to stay any longer. They said they wanted to put the chain up to keep people from parking inside the area near the restaurant. All cars were moved and when we left about 5:30 PM there were still a few on the beach.

I also have been stung by the SXM wasps... They dart at you and sting several times. The nests are easy to see and are usually found in the ceiling corners of over hangs. There is a wasp spray that shoots 20 feet that kills the wasps in their nests. Benedryl is always in my purse because I am very allergic to fire ants and wasp stings.

Definitely an empty unmanned structure today. Could be making money selling hats and such.
