From My OP.... Pic 1. Eclair aux Fraises. A sort of Mille-feuille except with strawberry plus passion sorbet, plus brandy with cappuccino. One of the best deserts I had. Be Kool. Pic 2. Can't remember. This is the problem, memory bad yesterday but today a bit better so please forgive errors. Obviously fish/shrimp with sautee potatoes. Be Kool. Pic 3. This was great. Eggs cocotte with fois gras and the other dish poached eggs with shrimp, beans and sun dried tomato. Eggs Cocotte hands down winner. Be Kool. Pic 4. Menu from Be Kool. Pic 5. Menu from Mama's Pizza in Porto Cupeco. Pic 6. Gnocchi cooked in cream with broccoli and mussels, not bad but not French. Mama's. Pic 7. Champagne lobster and oxtail with gratin potatoes and plantain. Very rich, very different. Was there when the rained came down and got soaked. The best BBC's made anywhere but only by Devin at the Bar. Service can be slow and getting the check even worse. Nowhere Special. Pic 8. Soup. Can't remember. Many places made special orders for the wife in the soup department including the above restaurants mentioned. Pic 9. Souffle Tropicana. The Best... Pic 10. Some duck/salmon concoction at Tropicana. Pic 11. Profitoroles. Swamped in Chocolate. Again at Be Kool Pic 12. Again those Eggs Cocotte. Wasn't on the menu but he made them. Like having breakfast at Lunch. Pic 13 and 14 I just realized was in Anguilla a place called Sharkies. I actually didn't like the lobster with rice and tomato's very strong flavors and the other pic is I think their version of crab cakes.
Both our health impacted this year now with some memory problems for me so not sure if our fav place will see us again or we see it. Perhaps next December. I'm a foodie and just love the French cooking mostly. What happened this recent trip was I every day wrote down my notes and pics and then saved it to Word(and i'm not the best) on the computer, but for the life of me after spending a whole day getting the whole trip together for you to write here do you think I can find where i put it! Hence and again apologies for the formatting. Also just spent another 20 minutes correcting all the spelilng mistakes. Mind just wanders.
Also went to L'Auberge twice(restricted later because of the strikes) and had a fabulous stuffed Quail(not on menu so ask for it) with Lava Cake to follow. Another time Snails in pastry, rack of lamb and they made what the wife said was the best pumpkin soup she has ever had. Moulin Fou, Skipjacks. Snoopy's, very accommodating but food very poor. Yacht Club. Mary's Boon. Sol e Luna, Sunset Bar, Les Temps de Cerise in GC. Popped over to Anguilla for two days and satyed on the beach at the Manoah Hotel at Shoal Bay East. Nobody there but us and one other couple. Fabulous experience but didn't eat as well as in SXM apart from Gwens at SBE. Their chicken barbecued outside looked like it had been fed steroids. I did check out Ance Marcel Beach Club and their restaurant. Perhaps it was a Sunday and the fact that there were kids running around and screaming their heads off, was looking for a quiet time, with a great beach so didn't eat there and decided the next day to visit Anguilla. But yes the food looked interesting. Also went to Roxxi. Drinks expensive but they have done a great job and sure if we were younger would take one of their lounges right by the beach which was was so calm and inviting and have food and drinks brought to us. Even saw a few standing up in the water with a table in the sea drinking Champagne. A bit reminiscent of Pinel. Very Miami Beach though, they are going after a certain clientele. Wish them luck. Definately worth checking out.
Different strokes. I had the stuffed quail at L'Auberge and discovered I really didn't like foie gras. They prepared another plate for me gratis. And I went to Anse Marcel Beach Club four times on my trip and loved every minute of it. That said, I wasn't there when lots of littles were running around.
