Thanks to all that responded to our previous postings regarding directions and the best French onion soup. All were very helpful.

Best route from Pelican/airport to Orient Beach:
Head towards Philipsburg, after second roundabout take second left (by Shell gas station & will see sign for middle region).

Best car rental:
Again, Alain & Myra at AAA provided excellant service, great rates and no car problems.

Best Resort:
Club Orient-very relaxing with plenty of beach, numerous lounge chairs and very friendly people.

Best Jewelry Store:
Deepti & her brothers at DK Gems were all and more what previous posters have mentioned. Deepti, thanks for the great service and TTOL discount.

Best French onion soup:
By far was Bistrot Caraibes. Fantastic! The service was also top notch. Although, Mario's & Le Petite Auberge were closed, my wife also tried 3 or 4 other restaurants.

Worst dining experience:
Turtle Pier- Our party of eight were the only ones there & 7 of 8 lobster dinners had to be returned because they were cold. There were other problems also, but they did subtract the $27.00 service charge.

Second Worst Dining Experience:
Tropical at Marigot Marina- Again party of 8 and bill charged to one persons credit card. The next day, we determined we were over billed about $100.00. We went to the restaurant and the manager/owner agreed it was overcharge, but then charged us for the bread (about $30.00). About $70.00 was then credited though.

In summary, the weather was perfect, the Pelican Resort is improving every year and the island itself keeps getting better and better. Can't wait for next year! Skip
