So I think we will be visiting late May to early June and have been looking at airlines. Seems like the routes are a lot worse than they were 4 years ago. Anyone from the west coast have any favorite airlines/ routes they have found and would recommend? We are in San Diego. TIA

We always fly American from Seattle/Tacoma and have friends in LA that fly American too.

Try JetBlue to SXM and return on AA. Use Kayak to figure out best flights then book direct.

We generally fly sfo-sxm on AA and get 11-13 hour total trip length times on the red eye (our preference) for $500-650 pp. In past years, I have also checked out AA flights from the LA area airports, and they ran about the same. which might be more convenient for you. Jet Blue, if memory serves, is more expensive these days, but they are sometimes cheaper.

From Stan Diego you really don't have a lot of good options, AA via CLT or MIA which is probably the best or DL via ATL or JFK. Jet Blue might not be a bad option as you could connect via FLL, or could do JFK or BOS I think from SAN. Life on the Left Coast!
We are going Alaska (I have status with them) to JFK on the red eye then going down to SXM on JB. We don't mind the red eye going to SXM as it is better than just traveling all day and landing in the evening or spending a night along the way. We adjust to the time zone change pretty fast doing it this way as well.
Good luck!
I prefer the Isle seat

My daughter and family flew from SF last year. Panama air to Panama then Panama to SXM. Smooth connections and flights.

Actually I misread that - land in NYC late evening -SXM 12:35 pm - I'd grab this flight, or on of the other united flights in a heartbeat. book as a multi city flight.

I flew from LAX to CLT to SXM last February and HATED it (AA). There either is or soon will be a flight from SAN to FLL on jetBlue, where you can connect to SXM on JB. LGB probably has FLL flights on JB too. I'd fly JB instead of AA in a heartbeat.

The last 2 years we have flown out of LAX a red eye on Jet Blue to either Charlotte or Ft Lauderdale. We couldn’t find anything out of San Diego either that didn’t take all day. For some reason we only get Jet Blue one way and fly American home. Glad to see there are other So Cal that love SXM too.
