What is open there...or I should say, will be open in December?
Haven't been there in a long time and I'm sure there was a lot of destruction after Irma.

Twenty years ago Trellis was a happening place with the Last Resort vibrant. It was hard to find a place to anchor and on a "normal" day you could just about walk across the bay without getting wet. I've been there a few times over the years mostly to pick up some grocery items. I would never anchor/moor there. The reboot into some sort of artist colony has been mostly a bust. IMHO. Why do you want to go there with so many other places that are more attractive?

Would you overnight there if you were picking up people flying into EIS late afternoon?

I know what you mean...I was there when it was a 'happening' place.
We might be picking up crew there and wondering if there is any place to eat, browse, etc.

Personally I would not. If it were me I would either (a) stay at scrub and have your guests grab the scrub ferry, or (b) pick them up at Trellis and move the boat over the Marina Cay for the night, or (c) moor at Marina Cay, have the guests take the ferry to Scrub (which usually stops at Marina Cay) and if you must run the dingy over to Scrub to pick them up. My very last choice by far would be to have to stay overnight at Trellis. Go grab some food at Marina Cay if that's where you end up or in the outdoor restaurant at Scrub if you end up there.

We've been happy with mooring at Marina Cay and using the ferry. If any existing crew want to take the ferry over to 1) pick up new crew and 2) check out the art colony and pick up some items from the store it works for everyone. Support the local economy and still stay in a prettier spot. We only had 2 stops at Last Resort years ago and would love to see someone pick that up and make something out of it.

We stayed there when picking up arriving guests a couple times earlier this year. Aragorn's is open and on our last visit they were working on adding a small beach barbeque / bar - not sure how far along it is. The bar between Aragorns and the market was open with some fast food type options. The market has expanded their restaurant. Their menu is still limited but we did buy take out rotis to eat on the boat. Unfortunately D'Loose Mongoose rebuild had stopped due to some permit issue and it was uncertain if it would be rebuilt. No sign of any activity on the old Last Resort. The market was well stocked.

The trellis Bay Bar and Grill got some very nice reviews on TripAdvisor.com.
Out of 53 reviews, 26 were excellent and 21 were very good.
Sounds like a nice spot to spend a little time while gathering incoming crew.

I can’t justify spending the night at Trellis — and missing the breeze at Marina Cay (and sunrise over Gorda). I’d do a quick pm trip into Trellis for groceries, take-out, and pick-up/drop-off at EIS, and head over to Marina Cay for the night.

We stayed at Marina Cay three nights ago. We were the only ones in the mooring field and there was one DYC boat south of the field anchored. Of course nothing is open there. But there are A LOT of shuttle and other boats running back and forth throughout the night which made for a rocky, rolling night. I don't think we'll stay there again.

Perhaps the shuttling is temporary. I have never had that experience before.

Warren, the Scrub ferry runs fairly late. With MC closed, the boats no longer need to slow down through the mooring field. I bet there are some serious wakes, but will be able to confirm in a few weeks.

And that is why I suggested temporary. I hope that’s the case.

I fully agree, Warren. It would be a terrible result of the Scrub Island development if Marina Cay became an untenable mooring field, with no service dock or shoreside amenities. There was a huge groundswell of concern about this years and years ago when the McManus twins cashed out of Scrub.
