With Eric’s blessing, this SXM party invitation
is for YOU:

You're invited to attend our August 23, 2019
JMB Website SXM Island Party to be held
at Toppers Rhum Distillery, Jobco Complex #3,
Well Road #9, Colebay St. Maarten. Time: 6-8 pm.

You MUST register in advance. Once you do,
your confirmation will be emailed to you.
Arrive early please. Check-in will likely start a bit
before 6pm. See How To Register, below.

Island Party Features:

Appetizers
Welcome Drink
Open Bar
Rhum Tasting
Mini distillery tour

To cover the cost of the open bar, the
Toppers Rhum Distillery will charge
$15 per person to all attendees (cash) upon
entry. There are no other costs unless
you elect to buy some of Toppers
delicious rhums or souvenirs
of your visit.

Learn much more about Toppers Rhum at
toppersrhum.com.

Special Guests!

Guest #1:
Noted British author Jacky Rom, who does
much of her writing at her "vacation" villa
in SXM, is now also a Netflix TV series
producer and star. She'll be letting attendees
in on her current activities and her future plans
— including writing a new novel this year from
her writing base in SXM. This is about her new
Netflix series:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNK0i1PpQk0

She will also have copies of her latest novel,
From Vegas to Villainy, available for purchase
and will be happy to autograph these first
editions. More on the book is here:
https://www.amazon.com/Vegas-Villainy.../dp/191644007X

Guest #2:
The second guest will be Topper Daboul,
for whom Toppers Rhum Distillery is named. He'll
talk briefly about his two new shorefront condominium
projects that are being built along or near
Simpson Bay beach.

At this party, you'll be invited to sample some of
Toppers' many rhum flavors. There will be mini-tours
of the distillery, and you may decide you want the full
scale tour also presented by the distillery during
daily operations. If so, the Toppers Rhum folks
will give you a discount certificate toward
a reduced-cost full-scale Distillery Tour you can
take during your trip to SXM.

How To Register...

This promises to be one of our biggest
parties of the year, so please register
early; registration is now open:

1. Membership: JMB membership is NOT
required to attend this party. We welcome JMB
members but we also welcome members of TTOL,
SOB, and Pirates.

2. Who Can Attend: You and your spouse /
partner are welcome; you may bring a guest
or two, but everyone *must* be preregistered.
Sorry, no children under the age of 18 and
NO EXCEPTIONS. We have space for up
to 125 people. When registering you must
give us the names and email addresses of
your guests (max two.) We’ll hold onto the
email addresses in case we must notify you
about the party.

3. What We Need / How To Register: Email
susank@jmbcommunications.com with the
subject “Toppers Party” and in your
email give us the names of who will be
attending and your email address, and your
JMB Website Supporters membership
number if you’re a member (membership
not required to attend). We will acknowledge
your email and confirm your attendance.
If you have guests, give us their information
as well. We will start to email confirmations as
soon as this week. Please register quickly --
we do expect this event to sell out quickly.

4. The Last Word About This Party: Again,
no children under 18, and cash is needed for the
$15 p/p venue charge for the open bar,
regardless of whether you intend to use it.

Admins / moderators from our Everything
SXM Site will be in attendance.
Thank you! Again…act quickly since we
expect this to sell out soon.

Honestly this does not sound like a party.
Sounds like pre- selling the condominiums.
If that is the point $15 cover charge to listen to Topper's sales pitch 🤣.
Topper should follow industry practice and like the timeshares let it be free even if he is unable to give 'gift'.
Either way I am not interested.

But paying to listen to his sales pitch 🤣.

It always puzzled me as to why you had to pay to do the regular tour. But I guess people do go.

Supposedly it's to cover the open sample bar and food. Quite common at wine tasting venues but they aren't giving a sales pitch for condos too.

Funny how people read things differently. I wish I could go as I think it would be interesting to hear Topper's plans for the new condominium developments. I doubt seriously there will be any high pressure selling going on and I have always felt like the more one can learn about what is going on in St. Maarten, the better. And I have no dog in the fight.

Could it be that Jeff has a vested interest in this with a sponsorship from Toppers? Just wondering since he promotes Toppers quite a bit.

Not sure what difference it makes as Jeff made it very clear what would be happening at the event. I understand if you don't want to attend but for those that do, it's a great opportunity to learn more about what is planned for the island. While I don't know Jeff, I certainly am well aware of the businesses he promotes. I guess I'm smart enough to ignore what I'm not interested in while appreciating info on things I am interested in--without the need to be critical. Guess that makes me a glass half full kind of guy.

Oh, and I should say......I'm not on the island so obviously won't be attending. So again, I have no dog in this fight.

CaribLee

Jacky Rom will be selling her book with the autograph thrown in.
Mini distillery tour with discount certificate towards full tour.
These are both to motivate buyers.
Author on site with book signing is a promotion geared toward sales.
Sample tour with discount certificate is also a marketing technique that is why companies give samples hoping to introduce product to new customers and in so doing increase sales.

Do you really believe Topper won't be trying to sell the condominiums.
Oh come on.

And it's all fine and well it's what he's supposed to do I just find the cover charge a little 😂 especially considering the norm with time share sales pitches.

People who know Topper and who have been to other parties at the Distillery (we've had several) know that is not the case at all. He talks for about three minutes out of a few hours party time. Otherwise there is plenty of food, music, rhum tasting, and fun. I'd never expect Topper or the Distillery to pay for the OPEN BAR and that's what the $15 covers. Very reasonable.

We also welcome guests of TTOL members, but everyone MUST preregister -- that way there's plenty of food etc. We've thrown parties in many places and the ones that have sold out every time are at the Distillery. Come & enjoy, but again, you MUST preregister.

To coin CaribLee's term you do have a "dog in the fight".
I think putting the the three sales pushes together with a cover charge a little tacky.
But to each his own.

CaribLee part of being in business and putting yourself out there means feedback, be it what you wish to hear or not. Has nothing to do with who is smart enough or not. Maybe you are trying to to show loyalty... get this I also love Topper's and go there every trip a couple nights, love karaoke too, love the mudslides. I have also been there had undercooked fish, did not ignore it, was critical, said something, hoping the waitress would communicate with cook so they would take more care and it wouldn't happen to the next person. Maybe the cook was just having a bad day. Went back during the same trip and food was fine.

What is Jacky Rom's Netflix series?
Was looking for something new.

It's an open bar. $15 for an open bar is excellent. Party went very well, dozens of people had a chance to meet & mingle and enjoyed the distillery, the rhum tasting, the food, and the bar!
