I actually am looking forward to checking it out also. Those at Royal Palm, whenever they reopen, will probably beg to differ, depending on how loud and late the music is..

I followed the link and there's a picture of their security staff, about 10 big guys. Really?

I like the addition of security. Especially at night.

I have no problem with security. No reason it has to be intrusive.

Better not try to beat the check at this place. You might wind up in Simpson Bay!

as of last wednesday...the fence around the property came down....and they were working on the parking lost in front. If this venture is anything like Kon Tiki....it will be very nice....BUT very expensive. Simpson Bay has really evolved as a ''hot spot'' day and night.

Elaine--I have absolutely NO problem with lots of security. Open until late? Lots of security is a GREAT idea, as far as I'm concerned. Keeps the roaches away.

Why would anyone NOT want security? In New York we call them bouncers! Every popular place has them....

I guess for the later crowd. And of course at the gate to park your car. To me, the photo itself felt like they expected trouble. We do intend to go there as our friend Max is the bar manager. He's the one throwing the bottles. Cocktails at least will be amazing, and probably come with a show. Location sucks though.

They are promoting Roxy Beach (Kim Sha) on Maho Beach...? (With the guy tossing the alcohol bottles around). Just thought that was odd. It's deceiving for those that don't know the location and go there expecting to see the planes coming in.

Like I said, I think it's proactive, to keep the roaches from appearing to begin with. Definitely security in the parking lot after night is a good thing. Possibly the other reason for the security is to make sure that only those going there park in their lot, as parking is definitely at a premium in that area.

There is already a gate at the entrance to the parking lot manned by security..

Not really. The Greenhouse is on Billy Folly Road. This is on the main drag in Simpson Bay, RIGHT next to Royal Palm. RP is immediately before the Simpson Bay bridge, on the left hand side, as you are traveling toward the airport. With the size of the place, I wonder how the parking will work in reality, as there is very little parking in that area in general.

Roxxy - shmoxxy! When all is said and done but particularly if you want to actually enjoy going into the water, it’s still Kimsha Beach, call it whatever they will. The food and drink may be the draw but it’s still Kimsha!
Respectfully,
pat

Got that!! I don't recall that I've EVER gone in the water at Kim Sha or Royal Palm. (Which is guess is still Kim Sha?? Dunno..) I will be going there for the food and drink, not going into the water, for sure.

So the Simpson Bay Bridge is the one where the Yacht Club is? And I think I am right, that is right next to the bridge. Spent so much time on the French side that I now need to get out and explore more....

Kim Sha is actually a very nice beach and typically very calm. Went there often when we stayed at Atrium last year for the first time. Doesn't hurt that Buccaneer Beach Bar, Greenhouse and now Roxxy Beach are all there to take advantage of if you so desire. We're staying at an apartment across from BBB starting next Wednesday so I'm looking forward to checking it out.

It's just that the Nature Foundation has been giving cautions for the water quality there.

CaribLee--the beach itself is pretty, but there are way too many small boats (without holding tanks) and yachts out there in that bay, for me to have any desire to swim in that water.
bran--yes, Simpson Bay Bridge is where the Yacht Club is..

I will be going there for the food and drink, not going into the water, for sure. I've hung out in the Buccaneer chairs while hubby tried to drown himself getting laser sailing time in at Kim Sha. That was back when there was a shower on the beach where Mirian & Pieter rented kayaks and stuff. It was all wiped out with Irma.

I have been in the water on Kim Sha Beach and am still here to talk about it. 😊 There are many swimmers there daily and no problems encountered. Don't make a habit of swollowing the water. It was deemed as safe as the water in the Nettle Bay area for several years. It is not my favorite beach, but I think it gets bashed much too often. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and that is mine. As for Roxxy Beach, I am looking forward to trying it in the near future. It is another business for the island and that can't be all bad. If it helps the economy in these trying times, I think it is a good thing !

Bran, its kind of the other end of the beach from the Green House, and the parking lot seemed to be pretty decent size as far as parking lots go on island. It looked pretty nice from the outside.

And that security team isn't all at once! lol....it's probably full timers, part timers, day shift and night shift just for the picture.

A very easy walk from the Greenhouse area. There appreaed to be a rather large and gated parking area. Pretty much between Greenhouse/Atrium and Royal Palm.
I believe Kim Sha is a somewhat natural beach and the beach near Royal Palm/Roxxy Beach is more man-made. Regardless, with the number of boats in that area, I would do no more than wade in that area of beach.
