Does anyone know if the Longchamp shop has reopened in Marigot? I've always loved stopping there for a handbag when on island. You can usually find bags that you cannot buy in the US. The hubby loves it when I drag him there ! Ha Ha .. I say "I need a new purse" - he says, "you don't "need" a new purse, you just "want" a new purse. Whatever.... We will be back to the island in December.

And while we're asking about Longchamps, is the Philipsberg store open at this time, if anyone knows?
Respectfully,

Hi! Longchamp in Phillipsburg and Marigot are both on my must visit list when in SXM. I don't know positively if either has re-opened (but believe that they both have) but we will be on the island starting August 16 for 2 weeks! If you don't get confirmation before then I will be happy to report after I check for myself!

Phillipsburg store is open. We made a very generous donation there is May. They have new color and are about 15-20% cheaper than in the states. Interestingly enough my sister in law was in London and they had a ton more colors and was even cheaper.

The two shops are owned by the same person and the cost is about the same (after accounting for the different currencies. The stock, however, is not always the same. I've dropped more than a few dollars at both!

I've been on Longchamp's website and wonder how the pricing compares to those in the stores in SXM? Interesting that their store in the Netherlands has prices in Euros. What are the chances I'll find something online in one of the SXM stores? TIA

Hello Jeepers,
Longchamp is NOT in the West Indies Mall ... it is across from Port la Royale Marina.
I used to get 40% off U.S. prices when it was $1 = 1 euro but now the exchange rate is about 1 euro = $1.20 so the deal won't be as good but still discounted.
I have always found there to be a good selection in both the Phillipsburg and Marigot stores.
I'll tell my husband I am helping the St. Maarten/St. Martin economy!!! Enjoy!

Of course the shop i the Netherlands has prices in Euros. The Netherlands is part of the EU. Sint Maarten is not. The price will be the same in any currency adjusted to the value of the Euro.

I miss Marigot in it's heyday! Got some good deals on Chanel purses. And they weren't sold in the US. Comparable, but there was always one design element different. What was $2,200 in NYC was much less in Marigot. <sigh>
Is the Longchamp store in the strip where the wine cave had been?

Thanks for the correct information. I remember seeing prices on the Dutch side in guilders. Guess I haven't paid attention in the last 15 or so years.

Hello Beach Kitten,
I sorta remember the wine cave but I don't want to steer you wrong. Longchamp is on the corner of Rue General de Gaulle and Rue Kennedy in Marigot, next to the store named Lipstick. Hope that helps!

Hi Longchamp fans! I can officially confirm that both the Philipsburg and Marigot Longchamp stores are open and operating. Shop away!
